These were not mentioned in your posting;however, the locations of family is very familiar. James was born in Ticonderoga, Vt/NY (ref: obit) even though his obit states he was born 1788, the Newville family records appear in 1750's in Vermont now New York. Another interesting thread is the Canada birthplace. My research leads to Quebec, and the original surname of Villeneuve was changed to Newville (English)when family found themselves in New France. My grandmother told me of the French Canadian link. During my research when I see information I will post the findings.
