How much information have able to find about William Smallman and Joshua Smallman? I'm a descendant of Joshua Smallman and trying to find out about his connection to a Edward Smallman and John Smallman. All three lived in New Haven, Connecticut at one point? Where about in Connecticut did your William live in? This is what I have. Joshua (b. 1819, Queen Co., Ireland)and John Smallman (b. abt 1830)came to New York City on the ship Henry Patrick on Dec 1, 1841. A few years after that, Joshua moved to New Haven. Not sure when John Smallman did; I found John in US census of 1870 in New Haven. Joshua joined the 20th infantry during the Civil War. After the war, he moved to Cattaraugus Co. Edward is a mystery to our family, the connection is unknown. He was born in 1840 and immigrated from same place as Joshua, in 1861. He also ended up in the New Haven and the 20th infantry. He also moved to cattaraugus Co. In fact, buried not far from Joshua's plot. His father was Richard, who died when he was around 4. Perhaps some of this information is new and can help you in your research. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
