I'm quite sure he was. I'm saying that the Samuel F Green (b. ca 1781-died after 1865) who lived in Cattaraugus County was not the man who was married to Lavina Sackett and not the man who lived in Thetford Vt. I cannot say with absolute certainty where Samuel F Green came from in Vermont but I suspect he was the man ennumerated in the 1810 census in Bennington. I have no real proof of this, proof being very hard to come by. And there were so so so many people named Samuel Green. I continue to chip away at this...probably a hopeless task. I can say with great certainty that Samuel F Green's second (or maybe third?) wife, Phoebe was Phoebe Lott, daughter of John Lott of Montgomery County. She was the widow of Peter Spore. And she would seem to be the person who died in Salamanca in 1881. From the Olean paper "Mrs Phoebe Green. aged 81 years, and one of the pioneers of Cattaraugus County, died last week at her home in West Salamanca."
