In fact, my mother took care of your grandmother at the end of her life in the hospital. Your grandfather worked for Foss Brothers in olean. They were a wholesale food distributer. They shut the company down for his funeral. That gives you some idea how much they thought of him. There was quite a nice write up in the Olean paper regarding his death. I was told he was a very nice, honorable man who was very well liked. Your grandmother I'm told was very outgoing. She was very involved in theh local democratic party in olean. Unfortunately, i'm also told that had a drinking problem which seem to run in the family. I was always told the story that you dad sent home money while he was in the service and when he came home it was spent due to drinking. That's about all I know, and that is second hand. Some types of information that "MAY" be included is… Name and Rank, Regiment and description of service, Place of residence, Nature of wounds or disability, Date of death, Occasional reference to family members. Please send any requests for a lookup from this CD directly to me at scott@lookingfordead.com Please be sure to put "Rev. War Pension Lists" in the subject line of your message. Please include the state they enlisted in and or filed in which may be the same state they died in. If you know a spouses name or birth date and or death date. Even if you are not certain that your ancestor served during the Rev. War, you may still feel free to ask for a lookup, as long as you know the person would have been of age to have served in the war. Scott Wolfe www.lookingfordead.com

NY. In 1860 this family is in Schuyler Falls, Clinton Co. & the head is named Luther Parish. Also living with the family then is a Heman Parish, age 34. In 1880 in Shoreham, Addison Co., VT. there is a Loring G. Parrish, age 17, b. NY living with his mother Elizabeth, 49 & his siblings. Also with them is a Himan Parrish, age 55, listed as brother-in-law to Elizabeth. I believe this is the same family as the one on the 1860 & 1870 census in Clinton Co., NY. Elizabeth is shown as Sarah on the 1860 &`70 records but that may be her middle name. Pat R. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. Re: [NYCATTAR] emails and ads for something that will cost the members of this list
    2. Bill Hart
    3. If you're perturbed, you're perturbed; there's not much I can do about that. In my opinion - and you're totally free to disagree with it - there was nothing wrong or off topic with Mr. Samuelson's post regarding new gravestones. But then, I'm neither the list mom nor will I pretend to speak for him (or her). And if you want to ban him from the list you administer, that's your prerogative. If it's the ads on newyorkgravestones.org you find offensive, you need to realize that ads are ads are ads - short for advertisements. The definition of advertisement: ad·ver·tise·ment noun 1. a paid announcement, as of goods for sale, in newspapers or magazines, on radio or television, etc. 2. a public notice, esp. in print. 3. the action of making generally known; a calling to the attention of the public: The news of this event will receive wide advertisement. Note definition 1 - they're out to sell you something; think of it as capitalism. And putting the word "Free" in an ad is like waving a red flag in front of a bull. Never assume anything is "free". I've dealt with sampubco. So he sells information; lots of people do. The question isn't "Can I get the information sold there elsewhere?" because you can. The question is "How much is it going to cost me to get the information for free?" There's actually enough information posted on the sampubco site so you can find the information elsewhere. There's just a lot of grunt work to do. And grunts typically don't work for free. Bill p.s. my spam filter blocked your reply; I haven't quite figured out why. 3. I have to say in defense of Mr. Samuelson, that his site enabled me to find the Will for my ggggrandfather who I had been looking for for a long time. It listed all his family members, etc. which was so very helpful. I never would have known half that info if I hadn't bought it from his site. I also got a copy of his last wife's Will which listed a child that I didn't know he had. I think you are being too harsh about this situation. Sure I would rather get items free; but, I would never have been able to find this info on my own. 3. Very clear you do NOT understand the role of the ads. These ads are NOT what requires you to do it. Next time you visit, you will see complete different sets of ads and that one you complained the loudest about will not even be there. Rootsweb will tell you they do it too. Worldconnect which is part of Rootsweb has the ads and they don't require you to click on them, either. The home page of Rootsweb even have same Google ads, too. They do NOT require you to click on these ads. There is absolute NOTHING requiring you to click on those small Google ads! Those little ads are even all over on Ancestry.com, the OWNER of Rootsweb. This has been going on for over 7 years now. It's everywhere! Even your favorite online newspaper has them. These little ads are backed by big companies willing to pay $$ to place them. Nothing is required from you to do it. The money from them go to help keep this site FREE access to all. and based on your complaint, you will have to BAN Rootsweb/Ancestry.com mailing lists, ban Footnote.com, ban findagrave.com, ban WorldVitalRecords.com - all because of the little Google ads FROM YOUR BOX. PS, Rootsweb staff (in fact it is same staff as Ancestry.com) already visited these sites and many other sites and APPROVED and allowed for mere announcements in the interest of the genealogy.
