    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: 2010darmorenus Surnames: ADAMS, ROBBINS Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.cattaraugus/10813/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Does anyone have a source that would tell whether the Betsey Robbins in the 1860 Census of Farmersville in the home of Oliver Adams was the mother of Betsey Adams? Betsey Robbins was 75 years of age. Betsey Adams, evidently the wife of either Oliver or Achsuh was 36. Samuel Robbins of Prattsburg died in 1853 in Steuben Co, and I am wondering if Betsey was his widow. If anyone has a genealogy of the Adams family of Farmersville, I would appreciate any information you might be able to provide. Where are Betsey Robbins and the Adams family buried? Thanks! Author: JenniferKerr161 Surnames: Foote,Foot Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.cattaraugus/10812/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have an old Civil War photo album, which I purchased on E Bay a few years back. On one picture, written on the back in pencil is the name: Larmon Foote or Foot. Not sure if there is an e at the end of the name of just fancy writing. I found other photos in the album with the same setting, taken by a photographer L.H. Spaulding, Otto, NY. There are a total of 5 pictures each of a woman or a man. I checked the 1855 census of NY and it showed Larmon Foot living in Mansfield, NY. There are many other pictures, with no names of photographer.Pictures are small approximately 4 inches by 3. If these pictures may be your relatives, I will be happy to send the album to you for only the cost of postage. Oh, there is an index of names written in front, very light in pencil, hard to read but numerous pictures missing from this small album. 1. [NYCATTAR] Ruper/Roper in Cattaraugus County
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: LauriceJohnson Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.cattaraugus/10811/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Looking for descendants of Catherine Ruper and Dora Ruper daughters of John Ruper (Roper). They came to Cattaraugus Co. in 1853 from Mecklenburg/Lauenburg (Germany) in 1853. Arriving were John, his second wife Dora. Dora's daughter Mina (Who married Morris folts). Also John's three daughters: Elizabeth (who married Christopher Schutt) and Catherine and Dora. I have been looking for Catherine and Dora for several years now and so far have had no luck. I find them in 1860, but not after that time. Catherine was born in August 1845 and Dora was born in September of 1847. The marriage records are not available for the 1860's. I have check in Chautauqua County (Where Elizabeth and Christopher married) but did not find them there. Was there a German Lutheran Church in the Mansfield or Ellicottville area during this time period and are there records available? Dora MAY have married a Westfall. I am hoping there are some researchers out there that MAY be able to help me. If you are researching the RUPER/ROPER family from Germany, I have LOTS of information about them to share. John's brother in law (also a RUPER) came to the US/Cattaraugus County in the 1870's. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am a descendent of Langmades and had never seen this photo. I did find one misidentification. My great-grandmother Mary (Langmade) Worden is labeled as Alta Fisher. The naming appears to be one off. She is definitely the tall gaunt woman in the upper right corner of the first photo. My mother inherited many of her features, much to her chagrin, since my mother said that her grandmother was one of the meanest and most stubborn women that ever lived. 1. [NYCATTAR] Brooks, Fox
    2. Sue Wemett
    3. Surnames: Brooks, Fox I've seen the following post on Rootsweb several times: >FOX family of Ashford > >Historical Gazetteer and Biographical Memorial of Cattaraugus County, 1893 >Page 455 > >Javan FOX removed from Fabius, N.Y., to Ashford in 1825 and purchased of >his uncle, Marsena BROOKS, the farm where George O. FOX now lives. He >cultivated his large farm and was a teamster >between Buffalo and >Ellicottville. He was employed to haul the lime for the county buildings in >Ellicottville; he dealt in flour and salt and later was a merchant several >years. There are questions left by this post. Was Marsena Brooks the elder (uncle whose family moves west) or younger (nephew who remains in Cattaraugus Co. for life)? I do not have any Fox family added to our descendents. It was obviously due to marriage of a female, Sylvanus Brooks (I have 10 siblings for him!) or Marsena the elder (I have only 1 sib, Edward m. Orange Hichcock), or Marcena the younger I have 5 sibs listed (Eliza, Marcena, Lavinia, Louisa, Calvin, Luther, Emma). Marcena the younger m. Anna has children 6 children himself- Emma, Mary, Edwin, Henrietta, "Willie" & Wealthy (yes really her name!). WHO married a Fox? Another circumstance of the post rings a bell because (my) Marcena the elder moved around NY state and lived also somewhere around Buffalo- where my great x3 grandmother Almira Louise Brooks and her (twin or no?) brother Alfred are supposed to have been born (Genesee/Erie Co.), 1833/1834. There is a town whose small historical website states that an unknown Brooks is a founder of the town of Oakfield, NY, Genesee Co. I am wondering if that could be potentially where Almira & Alfred were born? Did Marcena & Anna Brooks and family live in Oakfield, Genesee Co., NY in 1833-34? FYI- There were also two Edward Brooks- Marcena's father Sylvanus's brother Edward, and Marcena the elder's brother - uncle & nephew.
