    1. [NYCATTAR] Gasiewski, Pawlowska in Salamanca 1902/3-1905/6
    2. Gayle R. King
    3. I am searching for records concerning Stanislaus Gasiweski who lived in Salamanca NY from about 1902/3 to 1905/6. He immigrated to the US about 1901 (guessing here) and married Anna Pawloska in Syracuse, NY in 1902. Stanislaus was a choral director at sacred heart church in Syracuse and Anna was in the choir. Romance bloomed! Their daughter Regina was born in Salamanca, NY in the fall of 1904. She was baptized at Holy Cross church October 20, 1904. We don't know why they left Syracuse to go to Salamanca. In 1907 their daughter Marcella was born in Brooklyn, NY and Stanislaus was working as a choir director in Brooklyn. I am trying to find out what he did for a living there and if another child (who died) was born before Regina. Any help or clues as to where to look would be appreciated! Gayle R. King

    1. Re: [NYCATTAR] Samuel Green of Thetford VT is not the Samuel F Green who lived in Cattaraugus County
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: Nwinklepleck1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.cattaraugus/10800.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Stephanie, I'm not suggesting that Samuel F Green is not the father of the Samuel Green (1803-1849) who married Eleanor Ferguson. I'm quite sure he was. I'm saying that the Samuel F Green (b. ca 1781-died after 1865) who lived in Cattaraugus County was not the man who was married to Lavina Sackett and not the man who lived in Thetford Vt. I cannot say with absolute certainty where Samuel F Green came from in Vermont but I suspect he was the man ennumerated in the 1810 census in Bennington. I have no real proof of this, proof being very hard to come by. And there were so so so many people named Samuel Green. I continue to chip away at this...probably a hopeless task. I can say with great certainty that Samuel F Green's second (or maybe third?) wife, Phoebe was Phoebe Lott, daughter of John Lott of Montgomery County. She was the widow of Peter Spore. And she would seem to be the person who died in Salamanca in 1881. From the Olean paper "Mrs Phoebe Green. aged 81 years, and one of the pioneers of Cattaraugus County, died last week at her home in West Salamanca." If I figure out just where Samuel F Green came from, I'll let you know. Nancy Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
