Carol-- Do you have access to old articles from Olean newspapers? I could give you the information from them, if you don't. I'm seeing the birth of a son in Dec. 1920, Emery getting hit on the head by a pipe at work in 1933, his wife going to Pennsylvania because her brother, Eugene Fink, was very ill, in 1936, the marriage of son Earl in 1946, and the death of married daughter Hazel in 1947. Let me know if you'd like the full details for any of these. I have just started my research on the Company. I'll review and get back to you if after reading there are further questions in which you might be able to help. My late uncle has a picture of the company in his archives which I hope to obtain from his family this year. Also, remembered playing in the large storage areas when about 12-13 with my younger brother while my maternal GF worked in his office there. Levi and his 2nd wife, Sarah Balard, had children: Emeline (Salisbury) (b.1839), Frances S. (b.1840); Candace (b.1845); Alma P. (Brown)(1848); and Henry G. (b.1850). I think Henry m. Adell (unknown) (b.abt 1852) in June 1870. Adelbert died in infancy in 1873, the same year Adell died (possibly in childbirth?). In the 1880 census, Henry is married to Ella (b.abt 1859) and they have Louis (b.1875), Adell (b.1877), and Levi (b.1879). I don't know Adell's parents or anything else about her at this point, but I don't have anything to tie her to the Wordens. I'll keep the name in mind though. When was he born and died? Who were his parents? The reason I ask is because my ancestors, John and Ester Worden resided in Yorkshire, Cattaraugus County, NY in the 1850 census. In their family were two Clark children: Esther Ann born abt 1843 NY and Elbert / Ehlert / Adelbert Clark born abt 1845 NY. Esther Ann and her brother, Elbert/Ehlert/Adelbert Clark ended up in West Virginia. I have information on them there with John Worden's wife, Esther. I have often wondered why the Worden family was taking care of the Clark children and who their parents were, and what happened to the rest of their family. Brenda Does anyone know if there was any kind of a complete list of burials that were removed from Oak Hill Cemetery (aka Oak Lawn, Olean, Village) in 1906 when it was repurposed as a park? My descendants were buried there, then supposedly removed to Mount View Cemetery, although they aren't included in the lists that I've seen of Mount View. The Oak Hill list available at paintedhills.org includes them: Sarah Clark, Frances Clark, Emeline (Clark) Salisbury, Adel and Adelbert Clark. I don't find Levi Clark (father of Frances and Emeline; husband of Sarah; and my 2ggrandfather) listed although in his 1884 obit it was stated that he was buried in the Olean Cemetery. Neither paintedhills.org nor findagrave list any of these Clarks in Mount View Cemetery. I don't know if any family had anything to do with the reburials, and if not would all of the Oak Hill reburials been removed to the same area in Mount View? Any help would be appreciated. It's possible that the listings were read off the stones and Levi may not have had a stone. Or he was reburied elsewhere. Here's a link for the research request page at the Cattaraugus County Museum: http://www.co.cattaraugus.ny.us/museum/research/ You can have them look through what records they have for your family. This link has contact info for the Olean Historical Society and also the Olean City Historian: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nycattar/towns/olean.htm I looked in the directory for Olean and the phone number (716-372-2200) for Mount View Cemetery is the same as the number for Letro-Mcintosh-Spink Funeral Home. http://www.letromcintoshspinkfuneralhome.com/ Don't know if they are in charge or if it was a missprint but maybe they would know who has the actual record books for Mount View Cemetery. The record books should list those reintered there from Oak Hill Cemetery. Good Luck!!! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
