Having difficulty finding these two but all records show Edward and wife, Jerusha Wheat settled in this area around 1800 or a little later. They are buried near Delevan. Records also show that Lael lived in this area I am attempting to verify my family connections from Lael to Edward and Jerusha Wheat and Edward to his father, Edward Bumpas married to Mariah Benson. The latter Edward was a Revolutionary Patriot. This is needed for DAR application. I have census proof of Lael and wife, Philenda Smith in later years. Also proof of Lael's daughter, Asenath Bump who married George Thomas in Erie County. Any help would certainly be appreciated, K.Karry

Suzanne, Where you would look would depend upon a lot upon the time frame. The records that are available depend greatly on the years you are researching. Do you know about when they were born? 1800's, 1900's? Also, you might want to include the family name you are researching, you never know who else on this list may have seen the name or even may be related. Often when you the names and dates you are researching, other list members will check records that they may have access to for you. Please give the Webmaster of each respective site time to get them posted. I will continue to transcribe the 1860 and 1870 Federal Censuses for Potter County that have not been done. I really don't have a particular order, so if anybody has one in particular they'd like to have compiled please email me and I will work on requests first. First come first served, and I'm only taking requests for Potter County at the present time. And remember, there is not an 1890 Federal Census for Potter County. Eventually all of Potter County through the 1930 census will be transcribed. Please be patient. Some have been done, but what remains still amounts to a massive amount of work. I continue to work on McKean County (Penn'a.) and Allegany County (N.Y.). I will submit records to those respective usgenweb sites as they are completed. These records are free to be used on any genealogy-related site, so if you host one that has some Potter County history feel free to contact me and I'll email the data.
