    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/RRB.2ACE/5822.1 Message Board Post: For some reason I was never notified that you responded to my message of last spring. If you have not already discovered, the Kingsleys descend from a family that came from England in the early 1600s. They married into at least two Mayflower families, the Hopkins and the Billingtons. In the late 1700s they were in CT, with Oren Kingsley, Sr, moving after at least one intermediate stop, to Oneida Co., NY. While in Oneida Co., Oren Kingsley, Jr., apparently married Margaret Buchanan, and they moved in the 1830s to Chautauqua Co., NY, later to Warren Co., PA. I have rather extensive documentation on all this. Margaret Buchanan, born in Cambridge, Washington Co., NY, was the daughter of Thomas Buchanan and Sarah Livingston. Thomas Buchanan was the son of John Buchanan and Jane Russell. These latter two were the grandparents of President James Buchanan, who then was a first cousin of Margaret Buchanan who married Oren Kingsley, Jr. Thomas and Sarah (Livingston) Buchanan eventually moved to Napoli, Cattaraugus Co., NY. The genealogy of the Buchanans from Scotland, to Co. Donegal, Ireland, to America is pretty well documented. If you are interested in additional information, please let me know. Ron McRoberts

I wonder if your Emma is a sibling to my Mary and Laban? I have a little information on their parents, do you know anything about Emma's parents? I also found it very interesting that my Laban and his wife Catherine named their daughter: Nora Pearl. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/RRB.2ACE/336.339.340.1 Message Board Post: Sylvester Uptegrove was my great grandfather. He had 4 children, one of which was my grandmother. They were Charles Uptegrove who moved to and died in Lockport, NY. And three girls, Bell, Hetty, and Emma Esther who was my grandmother. Hetty or Hethy Married Mathew Strait, not the spelling you have. I believe Mathew's father was also named Mathew and may be able to verify that if I can find some pictures of grave stones that I have. There was a Mathew Strait in the Civil War who served in the same infantry division with Sylvester. Sylvester is burried in the Rawson Church Cemetery beside his wife. This was a wonderful discovery for me. Hethy is also burried their with her son and there are many Straits in this cemetery. Sylvester and Hett (what we called her) both died in Franklinville. I have a wonderful story concerning the discovery of their graves. I would like to hear from you and would like to know why you take such an interest in this family? Is it just from a historian standpoint? I can give you much more information about the descendants of Mathew Strait. Please let me hear from you soon. I'm putting you on the right path. John

    1. [NYCATTAR] HOOPER, OWENS, Freedom, 1800's
    2. I just started researching my mother's side of the family. My gr-gr-grandfather William HOOPER (1851-1927) and his wife Lydia OWENS (1846-1926) are buried at Freedom Cemetery. Lydia's parents were Samson & Elizabeth Owens. There are more Hoopers and Owens buried at Siloam Cemetery and the Salem Welsh Church Cemetery. Before I dive in too deep I just thought I'd ask if anyone else is researching the Hoopers or Owens families. Maybe you can help me sort out who is related to who and how. 3. check www.sampubco.com for wills so you can be prepared to ask when you visit. It saves a lot of your time. Inestates are not included at the site. And go to http://www.rootsweb.com/~nycattar/ to see what is already listed, reducing time looking for the same and increase time for other sources not listed.
