Surnames: FARNSWORTH, NYE, BROWN, HIBBS, COLEMAN, Classification: Biography Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/RRB.2ACE/5985 Message Board Post: IRA FARNSWORTH, born June 22, 1828 at Perrysburg, CATTARAUGUS Co NY.; died April 21, 1918 at Isadora, Worth Co., Mo. He married April 30, 1851 at Cherry Creek, CHAUTAUQUA CO NY., Eliza Ann BROWN She was born April 15, 1832; died January 2, 1901. The marriage was performed by Rev. McCoon. They moved to Missouri, apparently after the birth of John Thomas. There he enlisted at St. Joseph, Mo. March 7, 1862 in Co. E., 4th Missouri State Militia. He evidently saw active duty during the Civil War as military records note issuance of a replacement for his horse, killed in battle. After the War he lived for a short while in Uniontown, Mo., near St. Louis. He loved to move and lived also in Lee Co., Mo. and in Wapalo Co., Ia., living at Plattesville and near Athelston, Ia. In 1877 they moved to Rook Co., Kansas along with relatives of the Brown family. There they lived in a sod house, plastered inside. Later Ira built a fine stone house for his family. When they moved there, there we! re still evidences of Indian terror, burned out farmhouses, etc. although they never saw an Indian in Kansas. They traveled there pioneer style in a covered wagon with the cattle following behind, fording creeks and traveling across the open prairie. Times were hard and about 1888 they returned to Worth Co., Mo. Ira was a farmer but most loved his trade as blacksmith. His death was caused by an accident in his blacksmith shop when he injured his hand with a hammer. Blood poisoning resulted, causing his death. He is buried in the Honey Grove cemetery near Grant City, Mo. The Chautauqua Co., N. Y. census of 1850 shows him as a farm laborer on the farm of Norman and Malinda Mills in Cherry Creek twp. His mother, Malinda Mills died February 14, 1891, age 88 years, 5 months. Children: 1 Rinaldo B., born July 22, 1852; died August 27, 1853. 2 Emma Melvina, born September 24, 1854; died January 4, 1915. She married February 18, 1875, Robert Bruce HIBBS. . * 3 John Thomas, born September 25, 1857. died January 27, 1899. He was killed when a power saw broke, severing his arm. He married September 30, 1883 Nettie COLEMAN. * 4 Rufus Edward, born December 30, 1868. ( lots more too much to prnt here) * 5 Mary Evalina (Eva), born April 13, 1871. She married May 17, 1898 as his second wife John Potter NYE, born May 5, 1859, son of William C. and Louisa Ann (Hall) Nye. She died (???) 1962; he died December 26, 1935. Co. His wife's name was actually Hannah Minerva (Worden). (Information from an old family Bible.) She was born 6 Jan 1834 Hanover, Chautauqua County, NY. Hannah Minerva Worden was a sister to my direct ancestor, Alsophina Worden who married John H. Peck. The parents of Hannah Minerva Worden (and my Alsophina Worden) were John Worden and Esther (Whiting) Worden. I have a lot of Whiting information I'll be happy to share with you. Many thanks for contacting me. Brenda

Surnames: Beach, Worden, Lafferty Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/RRB.2ACE/5977.1 Message Board Post: HI Brenda, I have some info that may be of some help. I have a Lomira/Lomyra Beach who married Frank Albert Lafferty. Census indicates that she is the same Lomira you list above. I have a birth from census of Feb 1877. She died in 1958 and is buried in the Delevan Cemetery - Delevan Cattaraugus county New York. Frank A. Lafferty was born April 6, 1872 in the township of Yorkshire, the son of Daniel Lafferty and Hattie Anderson. ( I have a copy of the SS application of Frank that lists his parents)Frank died In July of 1971 and is buried at the McKinstry Cemetery. They had at least three children and possibly four. I am still trying to figure out if the last two were the same child and nickname listed on census, or if there were boys born about a year apart. Anyway, children listed in census are: Glen A. Lafferty, born january 1894.SS death index indicates he died in Dec 1965, which is consistant with other tidbits I have available. Floyd Lafferty was born in 1897 and died at the age of three months. He is buried at the McKinstry Cemetery in Yorkshire/Machias along with his grandparents. This one is the puzzle part 1900 census lists a baby boy, named Harry. However, the next son, Lloyd A. Lafferty was born in 1900 and died in 1947 of a heart attack. The only one of the children I can carry any further than this at present is Lloyd and his family. I have done extensive research on the Lafferty clan. This is my family name. If you want further info, dont hesitate to ask! I will do what I can to help. Just email me at cbarber@wrkcs.net. Hope this helps! Carol Barber PS. do you know where in PA Isaac Beach and/or MInerva Worden were born? Also have connections to part of a Worden family on my ex inlaws side. But I dont know much about them.
