I did some searches on probate and naturalizations, but found nothing. I'm new to this, so maybe I'm missing something. My grandfather ( Manley Fuss, Frederick's grandson ) passed along that Frederick and Mary came here on a ship named the Morning Star, but I found no voyages in 1855 from Germany to the US for any of the ships with that name. They came from Mecklenburg-Schwerin, and may have arrived here through either New York or Canada. I was hoping to find a marriage record for Fred and Mary to find out more about their families. There are many Fuss families around Little Valley, and I was hoping someone may have something to help fill in the blanks. He's not in the 1855 Census, but the 1860 and subsequent census records show him as being naturalized and arriving in 1855. Looking for marriage records, anything that may show more detail than the census. They are both buried in Little Valley, so any more detailed info will be greatly appreciated. ( He's listed as Fred Fass in the 1865 NY census ).

We are related through the Merrill side of the family. Our grandmothers (Gladys & Lillian Merrill) were sisters. Gladys was the oldest, Lillian the youngest. There were Gladys, Lucy, Alta, Lillian Merrill. Your grandparents, Lillian & Charles (called Norm) Albrecht were the area beekeepers. My father, Robert Phillips, son of Gladys Merrill & William Phillips, remembers very well Aunt Lillian and Uncle Norm. Dad said that he doesn't recall their children Luther, Dennis and JoyAnn for some reason. My parents, Robert & Amelia, would take my brother & I out to Aunt Lucy & Uncle Herb's farm to see everyone. Your Aunt JoyAnn and I correspond. If you wish to continue communications, feel free to use my email address. J. (Gina)

I've always wondered if they came over from Ireland together because there is a group of people living close together who seem to remain in contact for the duration of Patrick's life. Catherine Loftus' sister, Margaret, married a James O'Day and I've suspected a connection to Michael but have not yet been able to prove it. Margaret and James ended up in Chicago. Their son, Henry "Hank" O'Day, became a professional baseball player, and later umpire, and umpired the very first World Series ever. What specifically are you looking for regarding your O'Dea family? I will keep my eyes open and if I find anything I will contact you. Nancy

Nelson Butler. They are on the 1880 census in Machias, Catt. Co. with daughter Viola Butler & other children. On this 1880 record Emma Butler is age 26, hence born about 1854. The 1860 census I sent has Emma J. COLF, age 6 living with Erastus & Hannah COLF, who are very probably her parents. The 1850 shows Erastus & Hannah before they had children, as well as a John D who may be Erastus brother & John & Eda (probably actually Edna) COLF on the following page who may be Erastus parents. There are a couple of messages on the Colf Genforum that deal with this family. Go here: http://genforum.genealogy.com/colf/ Pat
