Dennis Sr was born in Maine or New York depending on which reference you use. His wife Mary Briggs was born in Vermont or New York again depending on who is telling the birth place. I would like to know where one might find records in Cattaraugus Co., New York and what records one might find for the era 1837 and on. This family were all foudn in Fond du Lac, WI in 1850. I knew the little information I did have (from living relatives) had to be wrong. The dates never made sense. But how do you question what your family has always believed to be true? I've been looking for George Kellington for the past 12 years! I made several trips to Olean, NY just to look through dusty old record books. I was thrilled when my daughter went to school in DC. I spent as much time at the National Archives as I did with her! (I was also searching other ancestors) There were so many Kellingtons to look through that I just ignored other spellings. I'm waiting for the best time to share this new info with the family. Thank you again and Happy New Year! Julia

    1. [NYCATTAR] Hitchcock/Ball.....
    2. searching for data
    3. The 1870 census for Leon Township, Cattaraugus County lists the family of Lyman and Crisandra (thought to be Cassandra) Ball. Crisandra or Cassandra is thought to have been a Hitchcock born in New York State. To date I've been unsuccessful locating her. Might anyone on the list know about her? Lyman Ball was born to James and Julia Ball someplace in New York, but I'm not yet certain if his family was one of the Ball's who pioneered in Perrysville and/or Freedom. James and Julia were farming in McKean County PA (Corydon - PO Port Allegany) in 1850 and 1860, but Lyman was in Catt County from at least 1865 to 1870. Both Lyman and Crisandra/Cassandra were born in New York state about 1841. Would love to hear from anyone connected with either family.
