Go to www.familysearch.org, and search there. His grandparents were Hiram and Julia A. Phinney. Apparently, Ernest had a 20 year-old sister who lived there as well - Emma Eddy. I am related to the Meachams and Eddys, too, from Cattaraugus County, NY. Good luck! (I have her parens names somewhere but am not at my home computer right now). Both are buried in the McClane Cemetary (just south of Erie , PA) right next to all my Nesbitt's. His date of death was 11 Aug. 1875, hers was 23 Nov. 1882. A photo of thier grave stone is on the Erie County PA genweb (Bill Nesbitt took the pictures). Go to search for graves and type in Bowen (there's a bunch of them). As for the Moses's, Moses Sr, had a son Moses, who also had a son Moses. John musy have liked the name also so he had a Moses. There were 10 kids so I'm guessing there are more Moses's somewhere.

I know that he was born in Va. to a Sarah and that they had at least one child, Mary born in 1800. I don't have my records before me but I think it was Feb. @ 18. However, they were in Franklin Co., Tn. in time to own property tax in 1812. Now I do know that it was NOT Sarah Bean. Mary married a neighbor boy named Bluford Bethell @ 1821. There are no marriage records in Franklin Co., Tn. for that early of a time frame. Would anyone happen to have information on the Bowen family line that was in Smith (in the part that is now De Kalb) Co., Tn. by the 1810 census. At this time would like any kind of ideas, suggestions etc. Beth

Nesbitt was my GGGG grandmother. MOSES BOWEN, farmer, P. O. Erie, was born November 10, 1822, son of John and Margaret (McClain) Bowen, who were the parents of ten children, of whom the following are now living: Thomas, in Dubuque, Iowa; Rachel, wife of R. Nesbit; Daniel, in Washington Township; Joseph, at Strong's Prairie, Adams Co., Wis.; Mary, wife of Samuel Ensign, in Washington Township, and Moses, the subject of this sketch. He was united in marriage, Dec. 4, 1845, with Rebecca Vannatta. Ten children have been born to them, 7 now living -- Margaret A. (died Jan. 4, 1883), wife of R. Dunlap, and the mother of 2 children (Hattie and Gertie); Catherine, wife of Thomas Dunlap (have 1 child, Rebecca); Clarissa C., wife of Geo. A. Smith (have 1 child, Harvey); Ida R., wife of Chas. A. Tupper, of Chicago; Moses E., also in Chicago; Chas. V., at home; M. Eveland, also at home; Henrietta, wife of Eli S. Adams, who is living in Pennsylvania, and has 5 children -- Albert, Moses, Harley, George E., Lena. Mr. Bowe! n's farm of 4 acres has a beautiful view of the lake on whose shores it is located. Mr. Bowen possesses a family Bible which has been in the family over 100 years. For a number of years he has served as School Director in this township. I also ran across this one on your Moses (don't recall where it came from Catteraugus Genweb I think). It mentions the elder and younger Moses. Moses BOWEN. born in Mssachusetts, March 12, 1752, served two years in the Revolutionary war, and removed to Otsego county, where he was a farmer and cooper, and where he died in June, 1830. His wife was Martha BELL, who died there in 1824. Their son, Moses BOWEN, born in Massachusetts, Feb. 9, 1796, came to Mansfield in 1830 and died here in 1882. His wife was Betsey HOPKINS, who was born May 21, 1797, died in 1862. Children: George W. G., born May 27, 1823; Emily M., born March 20, 1825; Sarah A., born May 20, 1827; Hopkins, born in Sept., 1829; Bird, born in 1832; Cyrus H., born in April, 1834; Frank M., born in 1842; and Moses, born in 1844. George W. G. married Lucinda MEACHAM, who died Dec. 8, 1863; children: George H., born Oct. 4, 1849; Sarah M., born Feb. 6, 1853; John M., born Oct. 25, 1858; and Betsey, born Oct. 3, 1862. He married, second, Mrs. Lydia L. HARVEY, daughter of William H. and Sally EDDY; children: Fanny B., born Oct. 21, 1865; Emily A., born Jun! e 6, 1867; Hattie L., born July 2, 1869; Mabel G., born Aug 10, 1871; William H., born Aug. 25, 1873; Ida V., born March 16, 1876; Eddy L., born June 29, 1879; and Bessie L., born July 1, 1883. Mr. BOWEN is a farmer and carpenter in Eddyville and has been justice of the peace thirty years, postmaster ten years, and a resident here sixty years. I also came across this blurb on Moese Sr somewhere in reference to his war service: Private of Captain John Danforth's company, Colonel David Brewster's regiment. Muster dated August 1, 1775. Enlisted May 18, 1775. Also, Captain Danforth's company was Colonel Rufus Putnam's NInth Regiment.

Also other than John and Moses I don't have any of the other children. I put John and your Moses together from an obit out of Erie County. John also had a son he named Moses....was hoping maybe your bible had extended family weddings and such. In fact I read an obit on one of the Moses (can't remember which right now) that said he had a family bible that went back over 100 years.
