    3. Give us the details of the 1860 census and perhaps one of us can help further.  Virginia From: Sharon Jameson <sharemslie@iinet.net.au> To: nyc-roots@rootsweb.com Sent: Saturday, December 2, 2017 6:27 PM Subject: Re: [NYC-ROOTS] JOHN GORDON d1862 Thank you to all who offered suggestions on where to look for my JOHN GORDON.  I have found him on the 1860 census (family search) - still no luck with a death record.  However I have been looking for him for 20 years so never say never. 3. >> Give us the details of the 1860 census and perhaps one of us can help further. Virginia These are the two I found in New York about the right age. I don't have a definite date for John, just going on what is written on the headstone and his age on the Scottish census. One aged 19 living in New York > Westchester > Mount Pleasant - day labourer. The other aged 18 in New York Ward 6, District 4, New York - a clerk - he was in New York Prison according to what is written along the side of the schedule.
