    3. Lisa and everyone else. Many, many NY City records are now available (and have been since the beginning of September) digitally that were once only available on microfilm. The only downside, though to me it is no biggie, is that you have to view them at a FHL or FHC or affiliated library. With the availability of birth and marriage and death indexes, from home I take the cert # and look up the film number using Steve Morse's tool, https://stevemorse.org/vital/filmnotes.html. I then go into my local FHL or FHC or affiliated library with my list, open the film, download to my thumb drive and in the 3 hours or so that I am there, leave with 50+ records to examine when I get back home. As reclaim the records obtains more records, I am thinking that I will be busy for awhile Gail ~ Gail Schinnerer Jorgensen ~ On Sat, Dec 16, 2017 at 11:52 AM, Lisa Thompson <pupsnpaper@gmail.com> wrote: > I'm not worried that they will begin to charge. 2. What state do you use a FHC where they have NYC certs? Not every FHC has access to NYC certs. -----Original Message----- From: Gail Schinnerer Jorgensen <gailjmom@gmail.com> Lisa and everyone else. 3. They all do, since digitalization. If a film is digitized then they can be viewed in ANY FHC. To check it out, go online at home (or anywhere) and go to the film listing. On the right side of the film there is a camera if the documents are digitized. If there is a key over the camera, their contractual agreements with the vendor of the documents will not allow them to be viewed online except in the FHC or FHL or family history affiliated library. If there is no key over the camera, those can be viewed anywhere. 3. There is a radical difference between seeing a digitized record as opposed to the actual cert. The digitized record is far from complete. i.e no cause of death..Has ghome address rather than place pf death for my ancetors **************************************************************************************************************** They all do, since digitalization.
