    1. [NYC-ROOTS] Headstones & Calvary Cemetery
    2. Most cemeteries hold records of who purchased a headstone and where and when it was installed. Cemetery staff must work co-jointly with the headstone engraver. However, Calvary Cemetery may be the exception. Did you ever phone there for a grave location and ask if the plot has a headstone? They don't know without sending a truck to the location. For questions such a as this, you might ask the Archivist for the Archdiocese of NY (archives@archny.org) since it is the largest Archdiocesan cemetery. -----Original Message----- From: SHERRI BOBISH <sherribob@comcast.net> By what research method could it be learned who paid for the stone? Just a thought, Sherri Very unusual that an indigent grave had a headstone.
