The info from the other researcher came to me a long, long time ago ... possibly more than 40 years ago. Back then I did not keep very good records/notes ... and do not know who the other researcher was/is. Looking back at what notes I do still have I found "John & Magdalena had 4 children, names unknown". That matches up with the 1875 census. I do not have a death certificate nor an obit for John. I only have a death certificate transcription which reads: Death Certificate Transcription Name - John Deckelmann Number - 476259 Date - 26 Nov 1883 Location - Manhattan Father - Balthasar Deckelmann Birthplace - Germany Mother - Anna M. Deckelmann Birthplace - Germany Marital Status - married Age - 64 years & 10 months Date of Birth - Birthplace - Germany Years in USA - 47 Years in NYC - 47 Place of Death - 147 E 6th Street Cause of Death - Brights disease of the kidneys, general dropsy & exhaustion Residence - Occupation - Laborer Cemetery - Calvary Date of Burial - 29 Nov 1883 The line reading "Years in NYC - 47" seems to indicate that he did NOT move to Rockland Co. However, the line "Marital Status - married" does indicate that he's married at the time of his death. > Date: Sat, 31 Mar 2018 20:42:14 -0400 > From: Bob P <rdpiet@aol.com> > > John had a ton of kids.
