    3. Hello , I live down under and do research in the USA, I would like to get a death certificate but believe one has to be directly related which I am not and note with horror the length of time it takes to get them. I have obtained film no through Steve Morse site but can only obtain through FHL (cannot do) or if a mormon member is there a reason for this as I have had it come up for a few records and find it frustrating. Regards T.

    3. If you have a film number you can go to your local family history Library and view the certificate online and downloaded to your computer and or printed out at the family history Library. If you have any trouble being able to do any of this you send me an email privately I can get it for you the next time I go. Having the New York records available to view directly at the family history Library has been such a help for us New York researchers. You do not have to be related to obtain any death certificate once 50 years has passed. 3. Bob, You forgot one relevant thing, these NY vital records are all digitalized and available at *EVERY* family history library. I have been going 3-4 times a month and viewing and downloading and/or printing birth and marriage and death certs. I have posted here a few times on how to do it. Write to me off list if you need me to help you at all.
