    3. This conversation reminded me that I sent a check and request for a death certificate to NYState back in September 2017. I still have nothing in hand from them but they DID cash my check as soon as they received it! That just doesn't seem right. I have to wait until May (if I get anything at all) but my money is long gone. When I find the entry I give the requestor the Date, Cert Number and Town of the event and where to write. If you order through the municipality the event happened the fee is $22 and the wait time is about a month. I have a list of municipality addresses should anyone need an address. Hope this helps. 3. We did that many times. I think somewhere it stated that if they had something they would send it. If they didn't find anything with the names and dates noted, you pay anyhow. 3. It can take up to 8 to 10 months before a certificate is received from New York State if you mailed in a request. It says so on their website and I know so from experience. Hand delivering gets you certificates within a month at the most two months.
