There's a bit of a debate about white gloves, but one school of thought (the one I subscribe to) is that while gloves are necessary when handling photographs, documents on paper are at a greater risk from gloved hands (because you lose dexterity when wearing gloves and are more likely to tear them) than from clean, dry, bare hands.
