So, I have obtained a lot of marriage CERTIFICATES (most from the LDS). But, I don't know anything about how to obtain the marriage LICENSE. Can you walk us through the process of locating those? Also, by the "pre-marriage licensing period, 1908 - 1951" I'm not totally clear what you mean by that. Can you explain? Thanks in advance! Debbie
I invented the term "pre-marriage licensing period, 1908 -1951" so that readers understand that these Licenses occurred BEFORE the marriage took place. Marriage CERTIFICATES occurred AFTER the marriage took place. Microfiche of Marriage LICENSES 1908 - 1951 are in a separate cabinet in the NYC Archives, and across the room from the standard BMD *certificates." They are filed by county the bride resided in, then year. My earlier postings on this topic state they are searchable only in person, and other details. I will be viewing Manhattan Licenses 1920 next. From: Debbie <[email protected]> So, I have obtained a lot of marriage CERTIFICATES (most from the LDS).
