Hi, I just got the Social Security application for my great-grandfather. It was issued in 1936, and on it, he reports he was naturalized. I already knew that he had been naturalized, but now I know it had to be before 1936. I might also add that he lived most of his life in Brooklyn, although his arrival record has him going to an uncle in Connecticut. I can find naturalization records of the uncle in Connecticut, and also of the brother/cousin that he came over with, who seems to have stayed in Connecticut with the uncle. I seem to remember that, years ago, I had the index number regarding his naturalization in the Eastern District of New York, which is Brooklyn. However, I cannot find any record of his naturalization anywhere, in any court, on either Ancestry or Family Search. I've tried every combination of spelling I can think of, and am beginning to feel as if I am related to all his Soundex "cousins". I have had some success in the past using alternate sources, such as the Ellis Island website, or Italiangen, when records were not showing up on Ancestry or Family Search. Does anyone have an alternate search engine for naturalization in Federal Court, or naturalization in general? (I know that at one point, it was all hands on deck, they were naturalizing in practically every court, but I would like to eliminate the Eastern District of New York before looking elsewhere.)
