My greatgreataunt Katherina Fredrika Uebelhoer married Paul Schoenbein in Niagara Falls,Ont on 5 Aug 1858. I cannot locate them in any 1860 census nor in the 1861 Ontario census.  They came  to NYC in the early 1860s.  They lived in Manhattan most of their lives.  His first appearance is in the 1863 Manhattan city directory where he is a machinist at 237 Ave A, then 1865 -  442 E 16th, 1866 -  442 E 16th, and 1868 - 442 E 16th. There is no 1865 Manhattan census (lost, destroyed, burnt? who knows). In 1870 they show with Paul 37, Ricke 29, Amelia 10, Augusta 8, Paul 5, and Elizabeth 2. 1875 census same as 1865 (not available). 1880 Paul 45, Catherine 40, Amelia 19, Agusta 17, Paul 15, Elizabeth 12, Bertie(Bertha Lillian) 6, and Herman(Harry Bennett) 4.  1890 Police census of Manhattan has Paul 58, Kate 48, Gertrude 24, Paul 22, Bertha 17, Harry 14, Annie 8 and Elsie 8.   I can find no birth record for any of these children. In 1853 Katherina Fredricka Uebelhoer came to Buffalo with her father Johann G(ottfried) Uebelhoer, her step mother Katherina, her brothers Philip, Jacob, John F, and sister Augusta.  These are the 1855 census listings.  Here in Buffalo they belonged to the Evangelical Reformed Zion Church.  I have the book "The German Churches of Metropolitan New York" by Richard Haberstroh and think there are three possibilties for the church they attended (if any).  The first is German Evangelical Mission opened in 1838 at Houston and Forsythe, move to Second st and First ave by 1869.  Says records can be found at FHL and the Archives of the Reformed Church in America in Brunswick NJ.  I'll check the FHL myself.  Second is German Evangelical Reformed, opened 1852 at Suffolk and Delancey and moved to 141st st and Crimmins ave (with the new name St Pauls). The records are at the New York Genealogical and Biographic Society.  Can any kind soul check these records for me to see if they can find my Schoenbein family baptisms?
