My all time favorite is historical fiction titled Forever by Pete Hammil, Brooklyn's native son, NYC newspaperman, and former escort of Jackie O. It is the best condensed version of NYC's history and with a focus on immigrant life. Thanks, Barb, for your prompt response. I found this book at the library this morning and am anxious to start it. I've read several other books you've recommended to the list in the past and have never been disappointed -- I'm certain I won't be disappointed this time either! Thanks again.
