While I have no proof his body did not go home I would think that very unusual in that time frame. I have been to his hometown in Scotland to go through records there. Never found anything mentioning a burial. I have some records named in several files but frankly I have been unable to find where they are held. His wife, who was a Virginian, and their two children went back to England/Scotland with him in 1776 but after the peace treaty was signed and the son graduated from Medical School at Edinburgh they came back to Va--1792. I do have a reference in an 1904 book on the NYHS about a letter of administration for his estate in NY and the librarian at the NY State Library, the NY State Archivist, and the NYHS believe the city court still has the record. After looking at the rates they charge to look for it--$90 plus $6 per page I am going to try some other things first Going to look for newspapers now--Thanks Doug
