So if I have the date, I can ask the archives for a search?? I got affidavits from a CW pension file but the affected persons in that file could not find a record. Or at least so they said. There are very few civil marriage records for 1866. Any available would be in the Municipal Archives. You probably need to search church records for a marriage. If you need a researcher visit the APG (Association of Professional Genealogists http://www.apgen.org/directory/search_results.html) or contact the NYG&B for a list of researchers.
