    1. [NYC-ROOTS] NYC address in 1901
    2. 321 was on the north side of 35th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues. In the 1900 census, 321 West 35th Street was in Enumeration District 266. The listings for this address are scattered over several pages (rather than being grouped together). The building was a typical tenement (multi-unit dwelling) with about 10 apartments. It's definitely not a hotel. The original building is not standing today, but a similar-looking tenement still exists next door (to the east) at 319 East 35th Street. Go to Google maps and search for 319 East 35th St, New York NY. Zoom in until a photo of the streetscape appears. The building with the barber shop and coffee shop on the street level is 319. The brick building to the left - a parking garage - occupies 321-323-325. The building at 317 East 35th (discount and acupuncture shops at street level) is another variation of what a late 19th century tenement looked like. To: nyc-roots@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <615369.48117.qm@web56404.mail.re3.yahoo.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Hi all- I'm wondering if anyone knows of a site where I can find what a building looked like in 1901? I'm looking for information on 321 West 35th Street, assuming it was a boarding house or hotel back then. One of my brick walls, William A Lavelle gave that as his address when arrested for his part in an altercation. thanks! Kate
