Hello all listers, I recently had a wonderful brick wall breakthrough. My new-found third cousin told me that it was believed my grandfather's sister, Hulda/Hilda Lazarus was a madam, and possibly rented out rooms to "clients". I find this extremely amusing, and would love to find out more information about her. My Lazarus family lived mostly in the Bronx and Manhattan. She came to America in 1884. At the time she came she was 13 years old, and obviously developed her business after she matured. I've looked at the Fulton History website hoping to find some newspaper article with her name, but no luck. I haven't found a death for her, but she could have married and would have had a different surname. She could also have had an alias (or two), something sexy and American sounding. Any ideas?
