Denny, Frances Adeline STACY's actual birth registration was during the July-September 1/4 of 1886 at Norwich,Norfolk U.K. so when she arrived in New York in April 1912 she was still 25 years of age. Although she arrived in the USA with her forenames reversed around, if she was married in New York and had to produce a birth certificate then this would have shown Frances Adeline STACEY (note the extra E in the surname.). FreeReg has church baptism which I have just located and this says she was actually born 6th June 1886 and then baptised "Frances Adelaide STACEY" IN 1888! In the 1911 census in the UK I just found her with the name "Adelaide" STACEY, so she's not making the search easy. By 1903 both her parents had died and so far she has done a disapearing act for the 1911 UK census. However I have just discovered her on board the Carmenia from Liverpool to New York early in 1912. By this time she had reversed her forenames and both the departing and arrival passenger lists have her as Adeline Frances STACY, a single 25 year old nurse whose previous address was in London, UK. The Ellis Island ship's manifest has her definetly being born in Norwich and her attention was to stay with a friend " a Mrs Johnsey at 232 East 76th Street, New York, N.Y. Further along the line is written "Dis to Ada Matley 34 East 67th Street" although I do not know what this means? My questions are would there be a record of any marriage in New York or nearby for and Adeline Frances or a Frances Adeline STACY (or STACEY) after 1912, or if still single, any mention of her in the following census of 1920? Would her name appear in any New York newspaper notices? or would she be listed under her maiden name if or when she may have applied for US citizenship?
