Hi All, If anyone is going to the Municipal Archives in Manhattan, I would very much appreciate a quick (I hope) look up. A great aunt died 30 January, 1901. I can't find her in the German Genealogy Group index. All I need is the certificate number so I can get a photocopy from the LDS. I went online to the NYC Archives website and it seems that all you can get now is a certified copy, which I don't need. And that's $15.00. Used to be $5.00 for a non-certified copy. Her name may be a bit of a problem. Maiden name: Flora Cohn, born 14 Oct. 1877. She married a man by the name of William L. Harvey and the certificate may be under the name Florence(can't explain that)Harvey or Flora Cohn. She's buried in the family plot next to her parents with the name of Flora Cohn. 30 January 1901. I assume that's the correct date of death. Thank you. Barbara Kiersh, Jacksonville, FL
Hi all, The GGG & Italian Gen websites are the same databases. Having worked on some of the records I can tell you first hand that some are almost indeciperable. Add to that occasionally in the marriage index men are listed in the brides index and women are listed in the groom's. My advice for people who are having problems finding the record that they want is to check by the first name if it is not like Mary or John. The number of pages you have to look through should be manageable. If the last name is long, try looking for a couple of the letters and add an "*". And if you are looking for a marriage, try the groom's index for a bride, the bride's index for a groom. Who knows, you may get lucky. Bobbi
