Thanks for all  the responses.   I now have it narrowed down to the area between 14th street to 20th street and 3rd avenue to the east river.   Also found an Edward Mills (stonecutter) living on east 26th street in 1859.   I guess that is about as far as I can narrow the search.   Thanks again   John Mills
