Hi Everyone. I was hoping that some kind soul might look up 1910 and 1930 census records for Gustav and Elizabeth Lange. I found them in the 1920 census in Bridgeport City, CT with their daughters Alice (5), Elizabeth (2) and a lodger Walter Kundetski. I am wondering if Elizabeth (nee Heine in 1894) might have been married to Gus in 1910 or if anyone finds her in the 1910 census (possibly living in CT); and where she and Gus were in 1930 and who was listed with them. Here's some background and I hope maybe some inspiration to never leave any stone unturned and to keep moving forward in your family searches... My Heine family is one of my puzzles that I am trying to solve...I don't know much about them before 1900 or after and I am trying to figure it out... I know that Frederick Heine arrived from Germany in 1881. All of his children were born in the US. In the 1900 census, Frederick Heine (my great grandfather) is listed as married to Elizabeth with children: Geo (b. 1889), Lizzie, Mary, Armanda (these 3 were born between 1890-1894), Florence (b. 1899) and John (b. 1900-my grandfather) living in Rocky Point, L.I., NY. I later found out that there was Emma (b. 1887) also. She was working as a servant in a nearby home. Emma and the first four kids are not Elizabeth's, so Frederick was married at least once before. I was able to find Elizabeth ( she remarried between 1900-1908) and her children (Florence and John) later on (through John's military records), but I cannot find Frederick and his other children... I found Geo's (aka George) military records around 1917. This opened some more doors. I found his passport applications, and he listed his sisters Emma and Elizabeth as witnesses. Unfortunately, there is little to no info about parents (except for his father's name...Frederick Heine and that he was born in Germany) on the application. Through my continued searches, I was able to make contact with one of George's children. They gave me some info, but they didn't know much about the "NY relatives". They mentioned a Gus and Elizabeth Lange and with a recent picture they sent, it seems they had a daughter named Alice. So I am trying to see if Gus and Elizabeth Lange were married in 1910, since I cannot find Elizabeth (nee Heine) after 1900; and I am trying to track where they were in 1930 and what other info might be available on this census. George's son sent me a bunch of old photos about 2 weeks ago. They were going to throw them out because they had no idea who many of the people were. They told me if I didn't want them to trash them, which I would never do. Many of the photographs were unmarked as to who these people were (so I suggest you mark them with names/dates for our ancestors who will be left after us and wish to trace our families). Some were marked, so I was able to go to the other pictures and tag the same people by their clothes or faces. One of the pictures had a note on the back about her time stationed somewhere in the Rockies. She had a uniform on, so I am assuming she was in the military also. This has opened more doors for me and my quest now is to find out who all these people are in the pictures. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Liz _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail has tools for the New Busy. Hi Elizabeth, In Ancestry City Directories, Bridgeport, CT - 1921- Gus W. Lange is employed by the CG Mfg. Co., home address: 23 Webster Ave. The 1930 census had a lot of info. Gustave W. Lange, 41 years, living in Brooklyn, NY. with wife Elizabeth W., 37 years, children Alice W. 16 years, and Elizabeth E., 13 years. He was born in Brazil and arrived in 1892. Elizabeth W. was born in NY, Alice W. born in New Jersey, and Elizabeth E. born in connecticut. Gus is working as a polisher. He was 24 years at first marriage, and Elizabeth was 19. Their address is 228 51st Street. I next looked for WWI draft card. In 1917, Gustave Walter Lange, registered for the draft. He was living in Bridgport, and claimed exemption because of wife and two children. Exact date of birth (as he claimed) 6 Sept. 1888. On his WWII registration card he and his wife Elizabeth are living at 230 51 St., Brooklyn. Must have moved to a smaller apartment. He was also born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Couldn't find them in 1910, but they were 24 and 19 years at their first marriage, which means they married in 1912.
