Dear Peter, The Municipal Archives, Room 103, 31 Chambers Street in lower Manhattan, sells the pictures of all buildings in NYC that were photographed in 1939-40 As part of a WPA Project. The form for ordering these should be online. You would have to add $5 to the fee and ask them to search the block and lot Number for that address since these can only be done in the actual archives. His army service record stated he was a head waiter and his address was c/o Abbott 206 E. 40th St. N Y City. I was wondering if that building still exists and what it is now and would it have been his place of work or just his residence? I am hoping to get a photo of it somehow too.
