    3. Don't know if you've tried this but I was able to find my German ancestors from the emmigration records in Germany. If you know when they came to the US, have someone in Germany check emmogration because the home town is often listed. If I recall, there is a series of volumes of German immigrants to the USA. There are a number of University libraries that have complete sets.
