    3. Hi everybody, What level of detail may I expect in a marriage certificate from 1909 Manhattan? Would it show the bride's parents name and exact birth place (not just e.g. Germany)? Any other idea regarding to find her father's birth place? I do have his death certificate and it just states as a birth place "Germany". Greetings from Berlin Walter

    3. I am not sure what might be on the marriage certificate, it can vary. However, can you find him on a ship manifest at immigration? Often at the very least last residence is listed, sometimes place of birth will name the town. Also, a declaration of intent if naturalized will give birth place. Be sure to look for a WW1 draft registration, sometimes the town of birth is listed there too. May also have needed to register for WW11.     3. A 1904 list the place they came from in addition to the maiden names of the mother.
