I am wondering why I havent sen my question poster to the list. I was a member of the list for year and then had computer problems and had to get a new computer which took some time to save for..now I join again, and get little of messages it seems.....I know this isn't a look up for info, does it make a difference to the message. Most of my genealogy over the had to do with family all from NYC including myself, and I got good responses and help from many. I will still need some help with one family member but trying to nail down If he was in nyc or state. Thank you for reading and a response. I started the genealogy of my family ancestors back in the 1960's and one of the questions along the way was ..what was the profession? Seems going back to early 1800's we have firefighters and police as the main profession including present time,on both sides of family. I have managed to get help from some on the list who found relatives even in Calif, and one in Germany and some in London. Even I was involved until I retired a couple of years ago.. and now I have areal quandry, my two sons, both firefighters, one in Fl. and one in NJ will be marching in the St.Patricks /day parade. I cannot attend, due to circumstances here at home in Fl. So again, am hoping for help in a way to extend the genealogy of family, to put in family archives to show the following generations and need your help. I'M HOPING to contact someone who can tape/record the St. Pat's parade this year for me, here in Florida. There was a very nice gentleman I think in Texas that did in 2008 and I enjoyed watching from here at home. But until now have not had computer back to work on and send messages, and I lost his address when computer died. I had plans to drive up this year to stay for a few days in NJ then go to parade to watch both my sons marching in the parade! This time my firefighting son her in Florida has been invited along with the Orlando,FL FD pipe an drums to parade (usually the piper in first line on W side of parade route).HIs brother is a Passaic NJ Lt, and is supposedly his contingent marching right behind. They have marched before but in separate divisions and no band, also both worked on the pile to locate anyone lost on 9-11-01 and still think of themselves as I do as New Yorkers. It's hard to locate them in the sea of blue uniforms but I did manage once, this time being with the band should be easier. However, I cannot make the trip this year being in a wheel chair ( back problems) and having to come over from NJ alone. The guys have to leave for parade line up long before I would be able to come over, try to find a garage to park in and wheel myself over and hope for a spot to watch. Hopeful that someone can tape/record...please let me know via list or personally,so I can send address. I will appreciate it, and reimburse costs.
Pat - as you see, your question posted - I have no idea why any earlier ones did not - Carol (LO for the NYC-roots list) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lewis Pat" <carmodyp@bellsouth.net> To: <nyc-roots@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, March 06, 2011 2:48 PM Subject: [NYC-ROOTS] question for administrator > > I am wondering why I havent sen my question poster to the list.
