The great website www.italiangen.org has just updated its death, groom and birth records.  Death records now begin in 1862 for Kings County (Brooklyn et al) and 1868 for Manhattan.  Records for grooms begin in 1864 for Kings County (Brooklyn et al) and 1866 for Manhattan.  Birth records too have been updated, now beginning in 1880 for New York City.   This free website is a true gift to all of us and is not limited to Italian genealogy, in case anyone is new to the site. It's all-inclusive. Many marriages and births were never recorded and so are not here but just one record can be a breakthrough.  Italian Gen has solved many a mystery for me.  They accept donations and certainly deserve them for this valuable project.
