when looking for film numbers use the following, it is easier than using the LDS catologue _http://www.jewishgen.org/infofiles/nycv-lds.html_ (http://www.jewishgen.org/infofiles/nycv-lds.html) Since we're talking about LDS and NYC cert numbers, I also have a question. I want to get a Manhattan marriage certificate from January 1923. The cert # is 623, Manhattan. When I go to the LDS catalog for relevant years, I get these film titles: Certificates no. 32310-33338 1922 1-250 1922 Certificates no. 250-1500 1922 Certificates no. 1501-2750 1922 Certificates no. 2750-4000 1922 Certificates no. 4001-5000 1922-1923 Certificates no. 5001-6250 1922-1923 Certificates no. 6250-7500 1922-1923 Certificates no. 7501-8750 1922-1923 Certificates no. 8750-10000 1923 Certificates no. 10001-11250 1923 Certificates no. 11250-12250 1923 Certificates no. 12250-13500 1923 etc sequencing down to: Certificates no. 38750-39961 1923 Certificates no. 1-719 1924 It looks like the cert I want should be on one of these 1922-1923 films but the numbers don't make sense. I can't see any place the numbers start over at #1 for 1923. I sent them an email asking about this. The first time I got back advice on how to do basic research. I asked again and got back links to the NY archives. Any suggestions?
Hi Loreen, I took a look. It certainly doesn't make sense. I myself, would do one of two things. Either I would try sending for certificate #6230, thinking perhaps they left the "0" off the end of the number in the index, or I would send the names and ask them to look up the record in the index and see what I got. If you try the first option, it would be: Certificates no. 5001-6250 1922-1923 FHL US/CAN Film 1653737 Please let us know what you find out. I had a Daniel W. Hinkley born NY? OH? Married 1844 Akron, OH to Eliza Jane Brannan. Sometime after the 1850 Lorain Co OH Census he disappears. His family still in Lorain Co in 1872. I received this bit of information on a man named Daniel Hinkley that I thought sounded promising: UNION NEW YORK VOLUNTEERS Listed in co G 37th Regiment New York Infantry Nat'l Guard Mustered in service 6 May 1864 Duty in New York Harbor. Mustered out 6 June 1864. 37th Regiment Nat'l Guard Infantry 29 May 1862 Left State for Middle Dept. until 2 Sept 1862 mustered out. 18 June 1863 Left State for Harrisburg, PA 19 June 1863 attached to 4th Brigade 1st Div., Dept of the Susquehannah, Action at Sporting Hill 30 June Carlisle 1 July Mustered out 22 July 1863. 6 May 1864 Duty in New York harbor Mustered out 6 June 1864. Could this be my Daniel Hinkley? If I could find an enlistment record for this man that might clear up who, if anyone, were his family. He had 3 daughters and a son Robert Arteman Hinkley. Can anyone help with this search? Thanks

Oops, they lived in Greenpoint Brooklyn...I have a copy of the mothers death cert...not much info. Her mothers name was Marius (Marie, Mary). Maruis's parents names were listed on her death cert and her spouses name. I also found out where she was buried but Maruis died in 1902 when Ida was still young. Thanks. You might search for the mother's death certificate. It would help if you included the borough for 1892 and 1900. Your best American search for Irish townland may be found via Emigrant Savings Bank. Barb NYC Researcher ============= Theshadow8418@verizon.net writes: > I know my Hugh Brady was in the US before 1833 and on Staten Island by > 1840 > Thanks for much for narrowing this down for me >
And two possible marriage records, only the places do not make sense: Church Marriage Donnelly Ellen 1825 Co. Westmeath Church Marriage Donelly Ellen 1828 Co. Leitrim BUT, there is a matching record for Hugh : Church Marriage Brady Hugh 1825 Co. Westmeath So both an Ellen Donelly and a Hugh Brady married in 1825 in County West Meath. West Meath is right beside Dublin by the way. But this would mean Ellen was only 15 :( We keep looking Annemarie ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lamont" <Theshadow8418@verizon.net> To: nyc-roots@rootsweb.com Sent: Friday, 10 December, 2010 4:46:59 AM Subject: Re: [NYC-ROOTS] Irish relatives contacting Annemarie, Are you still out there?
