Many deportation files that were created by the US Immigration and Naturalization Service have been transferred to the US National Archives. You can write to the office listed below to request an index search. If the search is successful, you can order a copy of the file, for which you will pay photocopying costs. I recently requested and obtained a deportation file from 1926-27. The documents were very detailed, including a transcript of the deportation hearing. Neither the index nor the records are online. order the marriage cert for Frank from LDS, try and get an obituary for her, see if she is buried as same place as mother, and check the online cemteries in Brooklyn (evergreen. Greenwood), and post the death date........ Im wondering if anyone has a Dorothy Murphy in their family tree? My family starts with Dorothy Easterby b. April 21, 1885 in Denmark. She married James William Dwyer b. August 7, 1884 in Brooklyn, NY. They had 7 children that I know of..The oldest child is Dorothy May Dwyer b. April 9, 1906 in NY. I figured she got married between 1920 and 1930 as I couldn't find her under her maiden name on the 1930 census, so I searched the SSDI by first name and birthdate and found a Dorothy Murphy. I looked her up on the 1930 census and she is married to a man named Frank Murphy, has a son named Frank Murphy who seems to have been born about May 1929 (as it looks on the census). It says her father was born in NY and her mother in Denmark. Seems like a good chance this is my Dorothy. I cant find her on the IGG brides index. But I did find a Frank Murphy who's marriage date is June 24, 1929 but the brides info in unknown. Dorothys SSDI also says she died in Howard Beach, Queens! which is where her mother died...so another coincidence. If anyone has this woman or her husband in their family tree or can think of any other cross referencing or websites I can try...Ive tried ancestry, family search, IGG, suffolk co. historical records, & brooklyn genealogy info. Thanks. Kim khawk@parishonline.tv or khawk67@yahoo.com
