    1. Re: [NYC-ROOTS] Dorothy M Healy born 1925 New York (father Robert mother born in Finland)
    2. Marlene Jaeckel
    3. Hi Annemarie, Robert Healy was drafted for military service on 5 June 1917. On his paperwork, he indicated that he was born on 19 May 1894 in Great Britain and that he was single. At that time, he was already living and working in Westchester County. (As an aside, in the early 1920s, the Briarcliff Lodge was a luxury resort hotel for guests like Roosevelt and Babe Ruth, so he had a pretty cool job!) My hypothesis is that his wife Mary/Maria probably also worked for the hotel, which was how they met. There are approximately 50 immigration records for passengers named Maria/Mary from Finland who were born around 1893 and arrived in New York between 1914 and 1916, so you might have to order Dorothy M. Healy's birth certificate in order to get the mother's maiden name. On the 1930 U.S. Federal Census (taken 11 April 1930), her age is given as 4 11/12, meaning she was likely born in May 1925. Hope this helps! 1. [NYC-ROOTS] Albany records help
    2. Gail Jorgensen
    3. Hello - I seem to remember there was someone, who I believed posted on this list, that they lived in or near Albany (actually Menands) and was available to get certs from Albany (Menands) on a walk-in basis. Normally the wait time for a NY State genealogy record is up to 5 months and I thought they mentioned that ordering a cert through a walk-in basis saved time. If you read this and know who that person is, can you point me in their direction! Thanks, Gail Jorgensen

For those that might have missed hearing about this, Brooklyn’s “Bonds of Guardianship, Vol. 1 through 4” that record the details of guardianships 1830-1852, were located in a Philadelphia used book store. They were returned to Brooklyn by professional genealogist Sandra Hewlett. The Brooklyn Daily Eagle has more information at http://www.brooklyneagle.com/categories/category.php?category_id=4&id=43886 I do not belong to the Brooklyn mailing list. However, let me see if I can help you. The 30th Street church, aka Chelsea Methodist Episcopal, was started in 1843 on 24th Street. In 1846 they purchased a lot on the north side of 30th Street, midway between 8th& 9th Ave. The appointments are as follows: 1848-49 E.O. Haven 1850-51 J.B. Beach 1852-53 C. Isham 1854-55 D. 3. Hi Kim and Everyone, The microfilm manifests for ships arriving in New York from 1820 to the 1940s are digitized and online at the Internet Archive. I've created finding guides to help you find the reel you want. The guides are at http://Guides.DonsList.net Once there, click on the link for the New York manifests - 1897-1909 . A list of reels with links will appear in the upper right frame. Scroll down to the one covering this date; the reels are in date order so the one for May 9, 1909 is pretty far down. Click on the link and the correct page on the Internet Archive will open in a new tab or window. To the left you will see a link which allows you to use the Internet Archives's online viewer. Click on that. There are just a few manifest on this reel. The first one, which is likely the one you want, is for the Montevideo, which visited Genoa, Napes, Barcelona, and Cadiz. I didn't go through the manifest; it's quite a few pages but perhaps once in the book, you can satisfy yourself that this is the correct ship and speed finding the correct page by comparing the page you have. I hope this is helpful. The guides also cover manifests for ships arriving in Baltimore, Philadelphia, Seattle, and St. Albans, VT. Henrys mother was also a Plumbley till she married John Morris after Henrys birth. Morris, Rose E. born 1865. ( True birth date 25th February 1863, Godshill, Whitwell, Isle-of-Wight. UK. Maiden name of Plumbley 1930 Census shows them living at 237th St or 239th St. Henry is now retired and 68 years old. Rose Ellen, his wife, is also retired and 65 years old. I have searched Familysearch, Italian and German lists and footnote.com. All sent from helpful ones with my thanks to them. Did find Henrys Petition for Naturalisation. Roll 16. Vol. 91B. No. 795. Book 18:18. June 12th.1900. Address given as Westchester. NY. Coachman. Witness was Frank Murrin. Spuyten Duyvil. NY. Gardener. I cannot seem to get any leads as to what years they died and where? Can any body please help me further? Maybe, hopefully, these ones could be in other Morris family researchers. Thank you and kind regards. April. UK

    2. It never shows the bride or grooms parents exacct place of birth Would it show the bride's parents name and exact birth place (not just > e.g. ***************************************************************** Ithink whether it would be specific could depend on the person taking the information. It also could depend on how long the people were in the U.S. I have a marriage certificate from 1866. It lists where he was born and where she came from. Later on many of the certificates just state "Germany." I just located the birth certificate of their first born son. It seems she was born in a bigger place nearby. They must have been living in the smaller village when they immigrated.
