The 1880 Census for NY, NY (Manhattan) lists this household: Joseph E. LAMRRELL, age 43 & hus wife Charlotte LAMRRELL, age 63 She was b. Charlotte MENONAY who m. Jean FRECHETTE, 1835 in Montreal. Charlotte apparently married LAMRRELL in NY after Jean FRECHETTE's death. Her son and grandson were also in the household. Can anyone determine when Joseph & Catherine married? >1850. Norman Cazavan

Yes, it will be on the 3rd & 4th floors of the old Custom Building. It will be on the South side of Bowling Green, the Whitehall Street station of the BMT, or South Ferry on the IRT. It will be very near where you board the ferry for The Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island. On Family Search, I find a Jos Lamprell with Charlotte, as well as two children Malvinia and Joseph who are probably Frechettes, as Joseph is only a few years older than they are on the 1870 census, so they are married by then, and according to the 1900 census, Joseph immigrated to the US in 1870 from England(I'm assuming though he could have gone to Canada from England). hi- I believe the last name is actually Lamprell,by looking at the census image. And that Joseph remarried about 1880, as I find a Joseph E. Lamprell in 1900, remarried, tho' it has the marriage year as 1879, I'm assuming he remarried about 1880? Also I find that a Joseph E Lamprell died in NY in 1902. Hi Liz, See: http://www.archives.gov/northeast/nyc/finding-aids/naturalization-records.html I don't know if you were planning on going in person. They are in the midst of moving to a new location. Many of their records will be stored off site, and only brought in when requested in advance of the time they are needed. I do not know which ones will be there. So if you are going, be sure to check to be sure they will be available. Hi, I found a few snippets of information that might be able to help you locate your relatives. It appears that Honora "Nora" Mulcahy was born in February 1863, and that the family immigrated in 1875. While the 1900 census indicates that she married John Sullivan in 1882, I suspect that the marriage might have taken place earlier, as I've found a birth certificate for a daughter, Annie, who was born on 11 Dec 1880. Margaret Sullivan was born on 22 Feb 1888. Daniel was born in 1893, and another son, James, was born on 9 Mar 1894. He died a year later on 15 Apr 1895. Patrick was born on 22 Sep 1895 (certificate #2414). Since he does not come up in the Social Security death index, it's a possibility that he died in the early 1930s or never registered. You might want to contact SSA to find out whether Margaret ever filed an SS5 form. Last, since 22-year-old Margaret was still living with the family in 1910, you could also try contacting Catholic churches in Manhattan to inquire whether they have any marriage records for her. Good luck with your search! Hi Everyone, Can someone tell me whether NJ Naturalization records can be found at NARA in NYC? I found a new lead on my gr-grandfather and since I have not found him in NY naturalization records, he may have done this in NJ. If I can not get this in NARA in NYC, does anyone know where I can research this? I did check the Camden and Trenton records on the German Genealogy Group site. Hello Listers. Is there anybody like me who has sought information on their relatives who had ben in Islip Hospital. In my case the person in question was an Inmate in 1930 I have been trying for a long time to obtain information on my Gt.Aunt. Initially I was told by "the powers that be" that on no account could any information be released. When I pursued the matter a little later I was told that there had been changes and a slight relaxation of the rules under The Freedom of Information Act. I was told, however, I must put my request in writing to Pilgrim. This I did in April this year but to date have not had any response from them. Has anyone had success with this apparently firmly closed door. Doreen in the UK

I just took a quick look in the New York City ACRIS real estate data base and found several Brooklyn documents for Richard Softye (very recent) and several deeds from Queens for Riedemann from the 1960's and 70's - Aline, Gisela, Louis and Wilhelm. The records include images of the original documents.
