    3. Bobbi, Very simple; it's expedient -- only info I need is name, certificate number, borough and year, which the italiangen site provides directly. I don't have time to waste as I usually work full-time (though am currently on furlough). In other words, I don't have time to try and figure out what film number, etc. I like simple, quick and painless, and that's exactly what I get ordering directly from the archives. I realize that some people may not understand this motivation, but that's the way I work. If the italiangen site also provided the film number and a direct link to order online through the LDS (i.e. something that doesn't require mailing them a self-addressed, stamped envelope), then I might reconsider. -- Mary On 8/30/2011 10:40 AM, Bobbi wrote: > Hi Mary, > > Why do you order directly through the archives rather than the LDS? > You get the same certificate from either. > > Bobbi > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Mary D. 3. Ellenjane, Thanks for your reply. I've already explored italiangen.org for whatever they have available there. I already have the actual burial record for Agnes Victoria Florence Stonehouse in the Drouin collection, along with her name in the Notre Dame des Neiges plot listings (she died in Brooklyn, but was buried in Montreal). I don't want to spend $18 to order the certificate on the Mary who died in 1928 at this time (I always order online directly from the archives -- not through LDS). That's why I was hoping to find a plot listing that included her among the Catholic cemeteries. I'm used to searching online in the NYC-area Jewish cemeteries, and was hoping that at least some of the Catholic Cemeteries might be online as well. -- Thanks, Mary On 8/29/2011 6:19 PM, IRED52@aol.com wrote: > Dear Mary, > There is a Mary Stonehouse age 60 that died April 10, 1928 in Brooklyn. > Kings County Death Certificate # 8174. So 1 certificate is $4 2 certificates are $4 3 certificates are $6 4 certificates are $8 5 certificates are $10 6 certificates are $12 7 certificates are $14 8 certificates are $16 As you said, just so the correct information is out there. 3. Hello Listers,   I'm new to this NYC list and hope someone might be able to help me in finding information for my gr gr grandfather, Patrick O'Brien b.c.1820 (yes, a needle in the proverbial haystack!) from Co. Tipperary and any O'Brien family that may have resided in NYC area.   I have a picture of Patrick taken sometime about 1880 at Long Photography located at 395 & 687 8th. Ave., N.Y. - I assume this is NYC, but not sure. I'm trying to determine the time Patrick would have been in NY and if he died there - hope having information for the photographer might help.    Patrick's wife, Mary (maiden name unknown) and daughter Delia (aka Ida) were in Chicago c.1880.  where another daughter, Mary Jane Mason and son Patrick Jr. were residing.  Mary's 1888 death certificate states she was a widow and a resident of Chicago for 8 years, but they were not found in the census for 1880. I suspect Mary and Delia may have come to Chicago upon the death of Patrick Sr.   Delia was married to Charles William Schubert in June 1883.  Their first child,  Charles William, d. July 1885 - the Chicago obituary states "NY papers please copy" as does the April 1900 obituary for Mary Jane O'Brien-Mason.  So, I assume O'Brien family was in NY.   Thanks for any information/guidance.   Regards,   Judie Mason Chicago IL

    3. Dear Lauren, A 1893 Brooklyn Almanac places the rectory at 927 Herkimer and the church at Fulton St. near Ralph Ave. It is described as German R. C. In my 1976 Brooklyn street guide I can't find any mention of St. Benedict's Ok, here's why, according to http://mysite.verizon.net/timdesmond/files/churches.htm St. Benedict (German) [1853; Closed 1973] - Fulton & Ralph {25th ward} Good luck with your search - Anne Brown .

    3. I have a marriage certificate for a relative married in the 1930s by Adam J. Willman, a priest whose address is 927 Herkimer Street. Was the church originally located there St. Benedict? If not, does anyone know which church was located there?

    1. [NYC-ROOTS] Yeshiva HS and College Yearbooks now online
    2. Don Krieger
    3. Hi Everyone, The Yeshiva University Library has placed 200+ yearbooks on the Internet Archive. I've rendered them for my site and placed them at http://Yearbooks.DonsList.net in the New York section. Here are the names of the schools and the years covered: Stern College for Women: 1954-1988 Yeshiva Brooklyn Boy's HS: 1948-1970 Yeshiva NYC Boy's HS: 1923-1970 Yeshiva NYC College: 1929-1988 Yeshiva NYC Girl's HS: 1951-1970 Yeshiva NYC Men's Institute: 1926-1971 The search for each school automatically covers the index for all the books for that school. The search may be found near the top of the upper left frame once you've loaded a book by clicking on its link. If you want to confine the search to a specific year, put that year in one of the search fields. If you want to confine the search to several years, e.g. 1931-1934, put the following in one of the search fields: 1931|1932|1933|1934 . I hope you find these useful. Don't hesitate to post back to the list (where appropriate) or to me personally if you have problems. Don Don Krieger - Pittsburgh, PA http://www.DonsList.Net - Always fast. Always free.
