    3. Hi Sharon, Please tell us the official name in 1941. Is this Manhattan? Other counties in NYC are named something similar. Please view this about "The Tombs." Boss Tweed, formerly crooked Tammany Hall leader was imprisoned here> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tombs Ancestry also led me to a trial of my great grandfather in 1903 Manhattan AKA NY County, that caused him to lose rights. In 1912, NYS Gov Dix restored his rights and fined him $25. without imprisonment. This is to say that I'm seeking repositories of these records. -----Original Message----- From: Sharon Suckow via [email protected]; I am tracing my family tree and just discovered a great uncle, who was convicted and sentenced to the Federal House of Detention in 1941. Would his prison information and records be available to me? NAME: Emanuel Bondell AKA: Manny Davis/Rothnstein DOB: 01/05/1900 Thank you, Sharon Suckow [email protected]

    3. Thank you to Margaret and MetroNYAncestry for the info about Janis Mundy; I will reach out to her. Thanks also to Robert for the SSDI info and for pointing me to a ship's passenger list where I found the name of a cousin Patrick Mundy was traveling with as well as a cousin he he was coming to live with in NYC. I have found three possibilities in the 1930 Census for Nora Sullivan (all in Manhattan) - 620 W. 150th Street, 550 E. 87th Street, and Manhattan State Hospital on Ward Island (she was a hospital attendant). If the wedding was in her home parish, any thoughts on which Roman Catholic churches I might check with? Thanks. 3. Good Morning Bill, We have been out of town and I am just now seeing your query about Patrick Mundy and Nora Sullivan. My husband's MUNDY Family came to the U.S. from England through Canada (Newfoundland) and eventually into the United States. I have gone through my family tree info, and we don't have a Patrick Mundy or a Nora Sullivan Mundy so I don't think this family is part of yours (at least not at this point). The oldest member I have is ROBERT MUNDY who was born on November 24, 1800 in Wimbourne, Dorset, England. If you think I can be of further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask. Good luck with your research. I have not been able to locate a NYC marriage certificate for Patrick Mundy and Nora Sullivan (believed to have married around 1936 and were Roman Catholic). Are the groom and bride indices at IGG/GGG complete or should I order microfilmed indices from Family Search? Any other suggestions on confirming Patrick’s parents’ names and finding out who Nora’s parents were? Thanks for any help. 3. I believe if you check the NYC-Roots archive (several years back) you'll find someone who was searching this Mundy family. Think her name was Janice. Her father, Patrick Joseph Mundy/Munday was born in Co. Donegal, Ireland and he arrived in NYC in 1926. He married Nora Sullivan (born in Co. Kerry, Ireland). Patrick’s SS-5 (signed 11/28/1936) shows his DOB as 1/1/1905; parents Terence Mundy and Alice (Kerrigan) Mundy; living at 292 Cypress Ave in the Bronx; working at Tishman Realty Company located at 136 East 57th Street in NYC. The 1940 Census shows Patrick, Nora and Alice (age 3) Mundy living at 307 83rd Street in Manhattan. Based on the SS-5 info, I believe that I have found Patrick’s family in the 1901 and 1911 Ireland Census but am hoping to access other U.S. documents to support this possible connection.
