Looking for information on Gouveneir RAINEY and wife, Frances DEAN. Gouveneir was born c 1835 and in 1880 census listed his occupation as a Portrait Painter. Does anyone have any idea how we might find some of his work or possibly any information in connection to being a portrait painter in the New York area? Wife, Frances J.(probably Josephine) DEAN b 1843 died after 1920. Children were Frank M. b 1873 d 1945; Nellie J. b 1875; Harry G. b 1877 d 1938; May b 1879. Frances is listed on 1900 census as a Cigar Marker in Binghamton, Broome Co and living at 131 Chapin St. She was listed as living alone, but many other individuals were listed at this address, so must have been a broading house which tells me Gouveneir was deceased by this time.
