According to a book I have "Naming The hills and Hollows Of Broome County" compiled by Carol LeVan Thomas: "Edson was formerly called Barton Hollow or Bartonville for Hiram Barton who settled in the are in 1843." It was in the town of Windsor. Hope this helps.
