I am searching for an obituary for Bertha Elizabeth Magee Babcock who died in Binghamton, NY on 7 October 1948. Does anyone know where I can write to get copies of obituaries and the cost involved? Thank you, Richard Shoemaker Fort Lauderdale, FL
Another backside of an obituary- this one is from March 1967. Sunday, March 26th is the date of death and burial to be on Wednesday, March 29th. Sorry, no newspaper name or date but again it came from my grandmother's belongings and she was living in Walton, NY at the time. Logically, it would seem the date of the paper would be after the 26th & before the 29th. As it appears, there are '?' in places where it is illegible: Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Mc??? visited her aunt, Mrs. Beatrice ?utz, in Roxbury Sunday. Mrs. Leo Flanagan of West Hartford was a weekend guest of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Robert Flanagan, and daughter, Eilene. Miss Cheryl Seeley of Manhattan spent Easter week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Seeley. Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Hill, of Montgomery, were Saturday visitors of her mother, Mrs. Elva ?rance. Mark Haller of Vestal is spending his Easter vacation with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. William Teetsel. Pamela Clark, student at St. Lawrence University, Canton, is spending the week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John R. Clark. Mr. and Mrs. Guarino spent Saturday and Sunday in Endicott visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Fanning. Terrell Roe, Syracuse University student, is spending a few days vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Roe, Jr. Miss Mary Lyon, teacher in the Mt. Kisco school system spending her vacation with her............end of clipping ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

I am posting this to several neighboring county lists: The following is from the back side of an obituary clipping that belonged to my grandmother. The death date is March 24, 1932 & services were scheduled for March 27th, so I would suspect that the clipping is from between those two dates. Sorry, I do not know the name of the newspaper. All I can tell you is my grandmother was living in Bainbridge, NY at the time of the death. I thought the information might be interesting to someone: Our school closed Friday for the Easter vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Seaman and family of Warnersville, spent Easter with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Lord and Family. Mrs. Seaman and children remained to spend a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lord. Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Wickham and family, of Dingman Hill, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ireland and family and Mrs. Sylvia Ireland, of Bainbridge, spent Easter with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Dunshee. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Dibble and children spent Easter with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Williams and family. -------------------North Afton------------------------ On Palm Sunday, sixteen young people and parents were received into full membership in our church. One was received by letter. On Easter Sunday a young lady was received into full membership, which speaks very well of our pastor, Rev. Howard B. Willetts, who is attending conference in Binghamton this week. There will be no service in our church next Sunday. Fred Neidlinger, of Bainbridge was a caller at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lynn L. Loomis, Sunday. This community was sorry to learn of the serious illness of Miss Clara Parsons of Bainbridge last week This is the end of the text on the back of the obituary. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

Sure, it is under the Town and city section. I figured anybody that was looking for a certain town would check there - that is the whole point of that section. Rather than go to the website, why don't you click on the link below: It goes directly to the website in question. http://meltingpot.fortunecity.com/ormonde/117/coversindex.html On Friday, March 10, 2000 11:35 AM, C.M. HI I'm the co ordinator from Broome Co. GenWeb. In the GenWeb system, there is a link to a site that lists the various p.o.'s in Broome, along with start and end dates. Here is what it says on Vallonia Springs and Sanitaria Springs: Broome County, New York Postal History Vallonia Springs: April 10, 1838 - November 14, 1903 The Vallonia Springs Post Office was established in Broome County on April 10, 1838. The first postmaster of Vallonia Springs was John M. Newkirk. On November 14, 1903, the Vallonia Springs Post Office was discontinued and began receiving service from Nineveh. Broome County, New York Postal History Sanitaria Springs: March 22, 1892 - Present The Sanitaria Springs Post Office was established on March 22, 1892. Prior to that it was Osborne Hollow. The first postmaster of Sanitaria Springs was Enos H. Odell. The Sanitaria Springs Post Office continues in operation today with a Zip Code of 13836. According to French's Gazeetteer, Vallonia Springs was in the Town of Colesville. That would place it North and to the East of Binghamton. Colesville was created from Windsor NY in 1821. However, the only Gardner on the 1825 census is listed in Windsor, so they might have moved to Colesville from Windsor. The Town's Clerk's office is located in Harpursville. That town is visible on the attached map. It is located on State Route 79, and is very close to the corner formed around Chenango Co. I am trying to find the identity of a Julia Ann ____ who married Isaac BREWER prior to January of 1827 when their son, Myron Charles BREWER, was born in Binghamton. She had at least 3 daughters born after Myron; Mary, Julia Ann and Amelia. As Isaac was born abt. 1802 and had lived in Union and Chenango, Broome Co, for several years prior to his marriage, it is probable that Julia Ann was a local girl. Does anyone have a Julia Ann born within these approx. birth years who could have married Isaac BREWER? By 1835, they were living in Paris, Plymouth Twp., Richland Co, Ohio. Ruth RODMAN married William WHITNEY (1754-1810), uncle of Joshua and Thomas Whitney, who founded Binghamton and Whitney Point respectively. After William's death, I'm told she married an Ebenezer PARK, who appears to be the first sawmill operator in the area. Does anyone know a) when Ruth died; b) whether she's buried with Ebenezer, and where; and c) whether William is buried with his nephews in Spring Forest Cemetery, and what shape that cemetery is in today? (Her Rodmans are already traced back to Barbados and Ireland; it's her fate I'm after!) Thanks, and cheers, Ron Kyser
