Hi Kim, Choconut Center is on Rt 58 just outside of Johnson City. Looks like it's at junction of 58 &72. It's on Little Choconut Creek which flows North from Johnson City to just up past West Chenango. The Creek seems to follow Rt 72 (or 72 follows the creek). I had it marked on the map and didn't realize it. Dummy me ;) Sandy On Thu, 13 Jul 2000, Kimberley Tuckey wrote: > Hi List- > > Can some one tell me if there is a Choconut Creek and/or a Choconut Center? > With this in mind, are there cemeteries in or near these places? > > Thanks in advance- Kim > ________________________________________________________________________ > Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com > > > ============================== > Search ALL of RootsWeb's mailing lists in real time. > RootsWeb's Personalized Mailing Lists: > http://pml.rootsweb.com/ > >
Hi List- Can some one tell me if there is a Choconut Creek and/or a Choconut Center? With this in mind, are there cemeteries in or near these places? Thanks in advance- Kim ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com

I am interested in know the relation between 2 individuals on the 1825 Broome County census. Their names are Abijah WARNER and Ephah WARNER, and they are both found on page 9. Ephah WARNER is my great great great grandfather, and I'm curious to know if Abijah was his father. I'd appreciate it very much if someone was able to look this up for me. Thanks a million! Hi all- This is a shot in the dark. My grandparents received a postcard from "Kermit" who was stationed overseas during WWII and said it wasn't so bad because "Mark" and "Kinter" were nearby. My grandparents were living in Bainbridge at the time and lived in the Chenango/Otsego areas all their lives. Do these names ring anybells with anyone? Thanks- Kim ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
I believe that the census is divided by cities and then by election districts. But the election districts that are used are City Districts. The 1920 City Directory cross references by street name and then number. All that you would get from that is who was there, where they worked. Susan
Would the person who recently posted a query about LUTHER BISSELL, 1805 , repost , please? I have some info. Robert Bissell.
I would like to invite you to visit a new website called The POORHOUSE STORY at http://www.poorhousestory.com Note: This may be where you jump over your brick wall!!!! (See the Letter to Genealogists) It is meant to be a clearinghouse for information about 19th century American Poorhouses. Because I began my research in NYS, there is currently more information about NY than any other state. On the BROOME County page I have just included: 1) a scan of the information for your county from a report of an 1824 investigation into poor relief which resulted in the passage of a law requiring the establishment of county poorhouses. 2) a transcription of the information for your county from an 1857 state legislative investigation into conditions in county poorhouses 3) the identifiers for microfilm available from the NYS Archives which have copied individual INMATE REGISTRATION CERTIFICATES for all people who were inmates of the ALLEGANY County Poorhouse as of October 1875 and all those subsequently admitted between 1875 and 1920 4) a link to the BROOME County GenWeb page where poorhouse information has been posted Your comments are welcomed ... I am new at this web-publishing business <grin> ... and your comments are NEEDED. The site will only develop through the submissions of folks like you listers. Volunteers are also needed to transcribe existing information for posting. If you are interested in the historical or sociological implications of the poorhouse system, you will find TONS of info to explore (beginning with the HISTORY page). But if your interest is strictly genealogical, you may be most interested in the RECORDS page or the CEMETERY page -- as well as your own County page. Please do NOT respond to me through this list. (I would get FIRED and/or SUED by my ISP if I maintained subscriptions to all the e-mail lists to which I am posting this announcement!) Please respond off-list ... or I may miss your post. Happy Hunting! Linda Crannell (aka=The Poorhouse Lady)
I made a mistake on my last post. There are actually THREE reels for the 1920 census for Broome County. The third is T625-1087, which covers Broome (EDs 86-92, 237, 93-101) and Cattaraugus (EDs 43-67) Counties. Again, I'm looking for whatever E.D. 63 Park Avenue (Binghamton) would fall under. Sorry for any confusion. C. Loftus
Hi, Does anyone know about the E.D.'s for the city of Binghamton in the 1920 census? The reason I'm asking is, I need to view a census reel, but there are 2 rolls that cover Broome County for that year. There's T625-1085, which covers part of Allegany (EDs 33-40, 197, 41-42) and part of Broome (EDs 1, 2, 75-85, 102-105, 241, 106, 3-18, 46-48); OR T625-1086 which covers the remaining part of Broome (EDs 19-45, 49-74). I'm looking for a person at 63 Park Avenue. Any idea which E.D. this would fall under? Thanks! C. Loftus
The county is BROOME and the city Binghamton. But they are not available for genealogical research according to the State Commissioner of Health without proof of relationship, proof that the people are dead, for a certain amount of years or have been on file for 50 years, and $10 fee per search. Susan
Hello! I was hoping someone could help me with where I would go to find marriage applications for those that lived in Binghamton around the 1920-1940 time frame? What county or city would hold these documents? Thanks in advance! Jean
I need verification of gravestones in the Ninevah Cemetary, which is described as the "old cemetary across the Susquehanna River" for my 3rd Great Grandmother and her father. My documentation states that Polly Hudson May MORSE died on 03 Aug 1844 in Sanford, Broome, NY and was buried in Ninevah, Broome, NY thereafter. She requested to be buried next to her father, Samuel MAY, who died in July 1834 at the age of 65. My sources state that Polly Hudson May MORSE is buried "near the gate of the old cemetary" and that Samuel MAY was also buried there, however, it does not indicate if they were buried next to each other. Also, is there an online database of those buried in the Ninevah Cemetary? Any assistance would be appreciated! I'm in the Salt Lake City area and would gladly offer my assistance at the Family History Library.
Yes, my grandfather and great grandparents are buried there. Do you know where Tracy Creek Rd is? If so, you go past the Tracy Creek Rd cemetary, which would be on your right about 1/2 mile and make a right turn to Crum Rd. The cemetary is up the hill on the left side. I can be more specific if you need. Looking for information on Gouveneir RAINEY and wife, Frances DEAN. Gouveneir was born c 1835 and in 1880 census listed his occupation as a Portrait Painter. Does anyone have any idea how we might find some of his work or possibly any information in connection to being a portrait painter in the New York area? Wife, Frances J.(probably Josephine) DEAN b 1843 died after 1920. Children were Frank M. b 1873 d 1945; Nellie J. b 1875; Harry G. b 1877 d 1938; May b 1879. Frances is listed on 1900 census as a Cigar Marker in Binghamton, Broome Co and living at 131 Chapin St. She was listed as living alone, but many other individuals were listed at this address, so must have been a broading house which tells me Gouveneir was deceased by this time. Any information or help in locating parents parents or where parents are buried will be appreciated. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
