Hi Listers: Some of my ancestors, Lewis & Mary (LeCompte) Monday left New Jersey and settled in what is now Broome County, N.Y. I know they were in the area prior to 1806. They had 10 children: Phebe;Ahimaaz; Robert; Catherine; John; Lewis; Sarah; Elizabeth;Ephraim and Mary. I know that Ahimaaz married Hannah Cafferty abt. 1805 & they had 4 children: William; John S.; Herman F. and J.S. Are there any Mundays still in the general area?? If so I would like to hear from one and all. If other folks have any knowledge of the above mentioned people I would like to hear from you as well. Thanks for any help you can provide. Best Regards, Jim Ohio, U.S.A. Searching for; MUNDAY; MONDAY; MUNDY; etc. information 1500/1600's.
Jim, Go to yahoo.com, yellow pages, churches for Bing, and you should be able to find the addresses. Jeannette
Hi Listers: Is there some SKS who would do a LOOKUP for me. By checking phone directories, I would like the names & addresses of Methodist Churches in Binghamton; Vestal & Vestal Center. Thank you very much. Best Regards, Jim Ohio, U.S.A. Searching for; MUNDAY; MONDAY; MUNDY; etc. information 1500/1600's.
Lewis & Mary are some of my grt. grandparents. They left New Jersey and settled in Broome County, N.Y. in the Binghamton or Vestal areas. Based on Lewis's mother's will he was in that area prior to 1806. They had a total of 10 children. One of their sons was Ahimaaz who was born, in New Jersey in 1785. This is all the information, date wise, that I have on this couple. I would appreciate any additional information that might be available in this area. Thank you. Best Regards, Jim Ohio, U.S.A. I received a death certificate from New York for George Avery, born 30 June 1868; died 1 August 1956. Married to Carrie Fiester. George's parents listed as Isaac Avery and Eleanor Rose. Place of residence, Union, Johnson City, Broome, NY. This is not my line. If anyone can use this certificate, please let me know and I would be more than happy to forward it to you. I have found that John G Oliver of Lisle, wife Elizabeth was a soldier in the Civil War. Enlisting in E Company of the 50th Engineers Regiment , New York. He enlisted January 4, 1864 and mustered out at Fort Barry, Virginia on June 13, 1865. John G Oliver applied for a pension onJanuary 29, 1890. His widow Elizabeth applied for her widows pension on May 18, 1910. I find at the LDS website: Delos Oliver, b. 1875 was the son of John G Oliver and Elizabeth Lincoln. A visit today with a daughter of Delos Oliver who recalls attending the Lincoln Reunions when she was a youngster in Center Lisle. She recalls Delos Oliver had a sister, Lucinda, a brother, Everett, Orange and a brother, Jason. And probably others. Delos Oliver, born 1875; died in 1933. Anne
On the 1910 census, Loren Duren, Jr. was a 16-year-old dry goods salesman living in the town of Union with his father, Loren Sr., the Superintendent of a lumber yard. Loren Sr.'s wife Ella was probably the mother of Loren Jr. Bessie I. McLean, 17, was a servant in the household. Any Duren descendants out there? Ann
I am looking for information on Oliver of Broome County. Information given me indicates that some are buried in Lisle/Center Lisle. I have 2 Oliver names: Jason Oliver married Phidelia Hively, and Delos Oliver married Esther Barrows. Does anyone have a connection to these Oliver. Anne Townsend anneto@localnet.com
Is there SKS who would look in the phone book in Broome County (Hope there is a county book rather than city books) and see if there are any VanAmburgh/ VanAmberg or VanAmburg listed? Thanks so much. Rose
Hello again all! Would SKS please look up Jeremiah Robbins on the 1860 Broome County census? Page 227. I really appreciate the help! Have a great day! Former Whitney Pointian, Nicole :-)

Good Evening. At long last, I received my grandfathers death certificate today. It says that he was born in Port Crane to a James and Mary Ann (Ball) VanAmburgh on Novemer 5, 1854. Is there SKS who has the ability and willingness to look at the census and see if this family is listed in 1900 and/or 1910?? Thanks so much!! Rose
Town Historians are responsible for cemeteries that are still in use, but I suspect they can only make their limited budgets go so far. The towns are responsible for maintenance of abandoned cemeteries...are to mow 3 times a year. Town Historians are not responsible for this. But most of us have limited budgets. However, most of us encourage our town boards to budget monies for mowing and maintenance. Our town mows at least 5 times a year. Chris Town of Barker Town Clerk & Historian
The man who was repairing vandalism in Riverside Cemetery at Whitney Point was only there one day, did not finish job, after the glowing article in the Binghamton Press. Chris
Where in the world did someone get the idea that in Broome County, it is up to the Town Historian to preserve old cemeteries? I believe that the NYS law says that when there is no longer a church or association to care for the cemetery, the town governments are required to maintain them. As Town Historians, many of us are interested in seeing them preserved, but it is definitely not in our job description. As a matter of fact, how would it be possible for us to do so? We are not financially or physically able to do this, unless we are responsible for orgainzing a group of willing volunteers. Alice Ruby Town of Chenango Historian
Tracy Creek Cemeteries are in the Town of Vestal. The Vestal Town Historian Betty Bartlow might be able to help you. Write to: Betty Bartlow, Town Historian Town of Vestal 605 Vestal Parkway West Vestal NY 13850 And maybe Cheryl D would do a lookup for you too. Chris (Town of Barker Clerk & Historian)

If anybody belongs to Kindred Konnections, could they please contact me? Vicki
Recently ran a check on the e-mail addresses for indexed queries on the site. Out of the 420 unique Id's on the site, 40 did not exist. That's not bad, in my opinion. In addition, there were 3 invalid ISP's and 12 questionable id's. Please go to the link below and see if your old id is on the list. By the end of the month, if I don't hear from the owners of the invalid ID's, I will move them to the Dead Query file. They will stay on the site, but will not be indexed. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nybroome/brmerror.htm Vicki
