I just got a call from Ellis Island and they assured me they are listening to what we have to say and will make changes as fast as they can. If you are on Facebook you can go to the Ellis Island page and post what issues you see so they can get everything fixed. They WANT us to put the site through the paces and try to identify problems we find and post them on Facebook. Please pass this on to all the lists you are on. They know the search function is not working well right now and are working on that. They are also going to make the "list" function (rather than the "postcard" view) easier to find. Unfortunately any people you saved before 2010 are gone...they don't have room to store it all. They had thought that our email addies and sign in info had previously been brought over, but found out they were not...but it will get transferred over. Unfortunately I now have a crazy website assigned password and can find no way to change it... So the good news is they are listening...the bad news is they are not going to give up this new website and the changes that make it not very user friendly. They were advised to combine 4 websites into one which is a big part of why the site is so confusing now. They know the pages on documents are showing up in reverse order and apparently there is nothing they can do to fix that either. I am just glad I found most my folks before these changes, but I do have one person I am trying to find now and don't know if I ever will the way things are going... This may just be one website I don't use at all anymore...but I did not use it a lot before...But I have one person now I am trying to find and these new changes are slowing me down a lot. :-( Have a good day and I hope everyone gets pro-active with posting facebook--that seems to be the best way to contact them right now.
