Hello, For ~5 yrs. I've had a small mystery to figure out.    My research of 20 yrs. started out on the KIDDER ancestors, but also included the related HUTCHINSON ancestors.   I descend from George HUTCHINSON, arriving in 1630 MA.   His descendants were always on a large farm in what became Winchester, MA, from 1720's to 1950's.    In the early 1800's the farm was in Woburn, MA.    During the 1850's there were 6  HUTCHINSON siblings, and at that time, 3 of the siblings left MA and moved to NYC and Brooklyn, NY.    I've mentioned them many times before.   They were John B. HUTCHINSON and his 2 married sisters, all became merchants. The mystery involves "how"  a Walter L. WELLINGTON, b1844 MA, was related to them.     The 1880 census has him living in the home of William and Elizabeth (HUTCHINSON) DODGE and some of their daughters.    He is listed as 30 and single.    ..  He must have married within 2 yrs.,  as in 1900, he is listed as a widower, and has his 16-yr-old daughter,  Ruth WELLINGTON, b1883 NY, with him. Also in 1900, he has a Mrs. Gertrude HUTCHINSON, a widow, and her 2, unmarried daughters, Ruth and Margaret, 27 and 24.    She at the time was the daughter-in-law of  John and Ruthy (WYMAN) HUTCHINSON of Brooklyn.   This census page says that Gertrude as the sister-in-law of Walter WELLINGTON.   And the daughters are listed as his nieces. In 1910, Gertrude is living in Manhatten with one of her daughters.    In 1910 Walter is living at a hotel with his 2nd wife.    He is now 76, and the page says he had been married to  "Reela" WELLINGTON for 8 yrs.   I cannot read her age.   Since I can't find them in 1920,  I can guess that Walter died in NY between 1910 and 1920. I tried finding Walter's family back in MA, but wasn't successful.   There were several Walter WELLINGTON's born in MA during 1840's, but none match up to the one who went to NYC.   ...   My HUTCHINSON / CROSBY ancestors have a strong connection to a  WELLINGTON family of Belmont, MA.   But, that is not helping me right now.
